here's the latest church update e-mail from PB:

NWLife Family,

Here we are in the last couple days of September and there is no need to rush. Maybe it’s alright to slow down and enjoy the season. I do hope you find a moment to pause and appreciate something little, beautiful, good and true that comes to your mind.

This Sunday begins our new Fall series: Not My Goodness. We’ll be exploring Galatians chapter 5 as we look at the gifts of the Spirit in our lives. Services are at 9:30 and 11:00am. Also – we will be having water baptisms in our services on Sunday… come, cheer on our friends who are taking the plunge of faith!

We’ve just started our winter coat drive: $25 provides a winter coat, gloves, and beanie for a child in our community. There’s a display in auditorium where donations are received – or, if you’d like to just take care of it right away, giving online is available now: www.nwlife.church/give

This is going to be a wonderful Fall season as we move our way toward the holidays.

Runnin’ on Love,

Pastor Brian

Here's the latest church update e-mail from Pastor Brian:

NWLife Family,

This past Sunday, we had our annual Taste of NWLife event following the morning church service and, oh man… thank you. And Yum. Also… the music! Shaun, Kelly, Jemi, Carter – you guys were the perfect soundtrack. We thought the weather would be nice, but instead it was wonderfully cozy and delicious.

This Sunday, September 20th – we return to our regular schedule with services at 9:30 and 11:00am.

Food will be served in the lobby between service times – and our nursery and all the kid’s classes will be running during both services. Maybe you can spend the morning with us… serving in one church service and attending another. If you’re interested in serving, let us know here: www.nwlife.church/connect

Last Sunday, I spoke from Psalm 145 about God’s character – if you missed it, the entire service is available online: www.nwlife.church

Our next water baptism will be happening on Sunday, October 4 (services at 9:30 and 11:00am). If you or someone in your family is wanting to be baptized in water, sign up right away: www.nwlife.church/connect

The annual Coats-4-Kidz event is coming up Sunday, October 18. We need lots of volunteers to make this happen – plan on coming and bring the family along.

Pastor Brian

This weekend, since we’ve already got the Seahawks all sorted, we’re throwing a little end-of-summer celebration—the annual Taste of NWLife event with specialty foods served up by our team of chefs. This is one of those only-comes-once-a-year, perfect-opportunity-to-invite-that-friend-who-asked-about-church, if-you-miss-it-you-miss-it, kinds-of-events.

This Sunday, September 13th at 10:00am, we’ll have our final summer schedule service of the season… followed by the Taste of NWLife (depending on what the weather does, we will be outdoors for food -or- if necessary, indoors for eating. Don’t ya worry about it, just bring a hat and hoodie (it’s that time of year).

There will be live music during the event, and all the good vibes. The church service will be all wrapped up and dismissed by 11:15am and the Taste of NWLife will begin serving delicious handcrafted specialty bites.

NWLife Family,

There were fireworks in my neighborhood last night—because the football season kicked off with our Seahawks coming from behind and then winning the game with an interception in the final few seconds… ah, it’s that time of year again. Welcome to the season.

I mean, why not??!?!?!?!? This church just served fresh squeezed cold filtered Thomcord grape juice from its grapevines last Sunday… haha, what else would you expect?

Last Sunday, I spoke from Psalm 126 about how we should look at the impossible challenges before us and laugh. It was maybe a message you need to hear – if you missed it, the entire service is available online: www.nwlife.church

NWLife Family,

Welcome to September. It’s that time of year when summer slips and football and the holidays get us thinking about puffer jackets and gourd-spiced errthing. Perhaps I exaggerate a lil.

We still have a few weeks of summertime left on the church calendar. It’s the Taste of NWLife event that will cap the summer schedule – and lead us back to our normal, school-year rhythm of church services.

On Sunday, I spoke from Psalm 118 about the wide-open, spacious place God wants for us in faith – and there was a wonderful tribute to Dolly Parton right before the sermon… if you missed out, the service is available online: www.nwlife.church

This Sunday, we will continue in the Psalms, receive communion together, and worship. It’s going to be a great day in church - come, as you are.

I know this is also the time of year when everything gets busy, so I’d love for you to add these events to your calendar:

The Taste of NWLife food event is happening Sunday, September 13th after our 10:00am service. This is definitely an event worth inviting and bringing some friends to.

Our next water baptism will be happening on Sunday, October 4 (and we’ll be in our regular service schedule with services at 9:30 and 11:00am). If you or someone in your family is wanting to be baptized in water, sign up right away: www.nwlife.church/connect

See you in church!

“It’s a gift to joyfully recognize and accept our own smallness and ordinariness. Then you are free with nothing to live up to, nothing to prove, and nothing to protect. Such freedom is my best description of Christian maturity, because once you know that your “I” is great and one with God, you can ironically be quite content with a small and ordinary “I.” No grandstanding is necessary. Any question of your own importance or dignity has already been resolved once and for all and forever.” ―Fr. Richard Rohr

NWLife Family,

I hope you are ready for a little change of pace, something fun… ‘cause we’re mixing things up and throwing a party for our community this Sunday!

Instead of the usual morning service, we recommend sleeping in and then enjoy some brunch—eventually making your way to the church for a special 12:30pm INDOOR Church-in-Action service. We’ll have worship and a message to get us going for our day of giving!

Come, dressed comfortably and ready to serve. Bring the entire family!

This is our 16th annual Great Big Backpack Give at NWLife Church. It’s very much in our DNA. Thank you for giving, serving, and making God’s love real in our community.

Giving online is easy: www.nwlife.church/give

This past Sunday, I spoke from Psalm 82 about what God wants. If you missed the service, it’s available online: www.nwlife.church

“Gratitude begins in our hearts and then dovetails into behavior. It almost always makes you willing to be of service, which is where the joy resides. It means that you are willing to stop being such a jerk. When you are aware of all that has been given to you, in your lifetime and the past few days, it is hard not to be humbled, and pleased to give back.” —Anne Lamott

the latest church update from PB:

NWLife Family,

Greetings on this hazy election day! It must be that time of year again… summer slowly winding down and tilting toward September with (whispering): back to school. I mean, there’s no reason to panic or rush, but just know.

We’ve been fundraising for the annual Great Big Backpack Give over the past two Sundays—and we have one more chance to raise all the funds before our event. Come ready to give this weekend… each backpack filled with school supplies costs $20 – and we need 500 of them. If you’d rather just take care of it now, online giving is super easy: www.nwlife.church/give

This past Sunday, I spoke from Psalm 78 about the important and communal work of “Remembering.” If you missed the service, it’s available online: www.nwlife.church

This coming Sunday is August 9th – we’ll be having a regular service indoors at 10:00am with communion and worship and a message in our Psalm-Washed Summer series. And, of course, there will be kid’s classes and nursery and friends and food…

Easy breathing… runnin’ on love,

Pastor Brian

“I hope you see the faithfulness of God in everything He has made. I hope you learn to trust that all of this is His care sworn to you. But mostly, I hope you know Jesus through whom God has wildly and ferociously loved us. I hope you know and that you become sacramental to your neighbor who God also loves passionately. I hope you leave them little doubt about His love and the victory Jesus won over hate and death.” —Rich Mullins
