At DPPDefense LLC (Daily Practical Personal Defense) we teach you how to deal with threats from both animals and humans.
I love the fire extinguisher for a non-permissive tool. It is one of our go to in our environmental tools training because even the small RV extinguishers can spray about 13' and are solid enough to easily target the collarbone among other targets and they are truly multipurpose. Like Matt said, they are common in most businesses.
We are working on a video showing the RV extinguishers in action.

You are worth fighting for, and sometimes that means you don't have to be nice!
Remember, space is your friend. It increases your reaction time and helps you maintain boundaries and barriers.
If you treat everyone you come in contact with as though they are facing a major personal trial, such as having just visited a close loved one in the hospital in critical condition or having said goodbye to a pet that has always been by their side, you will not go wrong in the vast majority of your interactions.
Please remember that most wounds are not as visible as a cast and most trials are not as noticeable as a student driver sign on the back of a car.
Approaching others with this baseline of empathy directly enhances your personal safety by the way you approach others thus reducing potential conflict before it ever has a chance to ignite. When you recognize that "hurt people hurt people", you begin to see hostility, impatience, or aggression not as a personal attack against you, but as a byproduct of someone else's internal turmoil and pain. Understanding this dynamic gives you the crucial ego check needed to respond with calmness, strategic space, and clear composure rather than returning anger with anger. By replacing defensiveness with awareness, you protect your physical safety by defusing volatile situations and guard your peace of mind by choosing not to inherit bitterness that was never yours to carry.
The Power of Repetition
Ask any powerlifter or martial artist and they will tell you the same thing: you cannot lift a heavy weight once and expect to become strong, nor can you practice a defense movement a single time and expect it to protect you when crisis strikes. Strength, safety, and mastery are never born from single moments of inspiration. They are forged through the quiet, steady discipline of repetition.
Repetition is the invisible bridge between knowing what to do and instinctively doing it.
In personal safety and physical defense, repetition creates reaction speed. Under stress, your mind does not rise to the occasion, it falls back on your training. The movements you have practiced hundreds of times are the only ones that show up when adrenaline spikes.
In your professional life, repetition builds reputation and reliability. The daily, unglamorous habits such as reviewing details, honing skills, and showing up with consistency are what transform basic competence into authority and capability.
In our personal relationships and daily interactions, repetition demonstrates devotion. Asking the right questions, listening deeply, and offering reassurance over and over again is how trust is built. It is why the Savior asked Peter three distinct times, "Do you love me?" not because the answer changed, but because the repeated question etched the calling deeper into Peter's soul.
It is why we return week after week to renew our covenants, commune daily with our Father in Heaven in prayer, and read the same eternal truths echoed throughout the scriptures.
God uses repetition for the same reason a master instructor uses drill work, because repetition engraves truth into our character until it becomes second nature.
Whether you are training your body, sharpening your professional habits, safeguarding your family, or anchoring your faith, commitment coupled with steady repetition creates unshakeable habits. And good habits are what ultimately generate true power, speed, situational readiness, and enduring ability.

This recent story is such a powerful reminder of why proactive safety conversations with our children are so vital. When this girl was approached by a stranger claiming her mother sent him to pick her up, she did not panic or blindly trust him. Instead, she put her critical thinking skills into action and asked the man for her family’s secret safety code. When he could not provide it, she immediately realized something was wrong, stood her ground, and got to safety before notifying her family and authorities.
Clearly, her parents have taught her well, empowering her with simple yet effective tools to navigate danger. Teaching our kids to recognize red flags, trust their instincts, and use code words such as a family password can genuinely change the outcome of a possible dangerous situation. Take a moment today to talk with your children about personal safety, practice different scenarios together, and make sure your family code words are fresh in their minds. Remember, it is never a one and done conversation.

Long before modern technology, Dads were the original security system, standing as a firm shield for their families.
One of the strongest deterring factors that helps ward off predators is simply having a present and active father in the home. True protection goes beyond physical presence; it thrives when parents effectively communicate their love while teaching their children self-worth, strong boundaries, and sharp situational awareness. When kids know their value and how to read their surroundings, they become far less vulnerable. As we always say, tell your kids you love them often and teach them how to stop a threat.
DPPDefense wants to recognize all the dads who are doing their part in protecting and teaching the next generation, past, present, and future, helping their kids and communities
