Rio Rancho Public School was founded in 1994. We have over 15,500 students and 21 schools. Rio Rancho Public Schools was founded in 1994.
We have just over 17,000 students and 20 schools--one preschool, 10 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, 2 high schools, 1 alternative high school and a Cyber Academy and an online-learning option called SpaRRk Academy. Rio Rancho Public Schools is dedicated to graduating each student with an educational foundation for success as a responsible, ethical contributor to society. This site is intended to serve as a mechanism for communication between the public and the Rio Rancho Public School District. The RRPS Hall of Honor recognizes individuals and organizations whose extraordinary service has made a lasting impact on the children of Rio Rancho and Rio Rancho Public Schools. Selection to the Hall of Honor is the highest recognition bestowed by the RRPS Board of Education.
Former school board members, community members and businesses, former RRPS staff members, government officials, and school district volunteers are all eligible to be nominated.

Vista Grande Elementary celebrated the cultures and traditions that make its school community special this week with two days of heritage celebrations!
On Wednesday, VGE hosted its Heritage Night, bringing students, families and staff together to learn about cultures represented throughout the school community. The evening featured displays highlighting traditions from around the world, cultural foods to sample, and a special performance from a Turkish dance troupe.
The celebration continued today with VGE’s Heritage Parade, as students and staff proudly dressed in cultural attire and paraded through the hallways while their fellow Grizzlies cheered them on.
At Vista Grande, the many cultures, traditions and backgrounds represented by students and families are an important part of what makes the school community who they are. We love seeing our VGE Grizzlies come together to share, learn about and celebrate the heritage that makes their community so special!

Rio Rancho Cyber Academy had a very special guest to help them celebrate their Spotlight Status designation, which was recently given to the school by the New Mexico Public Education Department: Orbit from the Albuquerque Isotopes!
Orbit stopped by to give high fives to students and staff, and congratulate everyone for their hard work to remain a Spotlight school.
Congratulations to RRCA for this outstanding achievement!
And a big thank you to Orbit and the Albuquerque Isotopes for helping make this celebration extra special for our students and staff!
The CNM Central New Mexico Community College Transportation Systems Technology Center is in full swing on the RioTECH campus, and RRPS students are thriving in the program! Students have access to hand-on and industry recognized training in a wide variety of automotive-related fields, including general auto, electric vehicle, and light-duty diesel technology. Those who go through the full program will graduate high school with industry certifications and college credit.
We spoke with Mr. O at RioTECH's auto center, who gave us some insight into what RRPS students do on a daily basis.

Grief can be especially difficult for children and teens to navigate. This October, Rio Rancho Public Schools will begin Moving Forward, a grief support group designed to provide RRPS students with a supportive environment to process loss, connect with others, and develop healthy ways to move forward.
The first session will run October 6 through November 17, meeting Tuesdays from 5:30–7:00 p.m. Separate groups will be available for different age levels:
Elementary students: Stapleton Elementary School
Middle & high school students: Eagle Ridge Middle School
Dinner will be provided.
A second session will also be offered February 9 through March 16.
At RRPS, supporting our students means caring for their well-being both inside and outside the classroom. We are grateful to be able to provide this resource for students and families who may benefit from additional support as they navigate grief and loss.

🌶️ Rio Rancho Public Schools is proud to celebrate a major achievement in student nutrition!
The RRPS Student Nutrition Department, in partnership with SFE, has earned the 2026 Golden Chile Award—the highest level of recognition for New Mexico farm-to-school efforts.
After receiving the Sprout Award last year, our team worked hard to expand opportunities for students to enjoy and learn about fresh, locally grown food. Only a small number of schools and districts statewide received this year’s Golden Chile Award.
This recognition celebrates the work of our Student Nutrition team to:
Serve New Mexico Grown products in student meals
Promote locally grown fruits and vegetables during NM Grown Month and special nutrition events
Teach students and families about local food production and healthy eating habits
Connect farm-to-school learning with hydroponic gardens, STEM instruction, and classroom curriculum
Purchase New Mexico Grown foods using grant and federal funding
The award is evaluated through collaboration among the New Mexico Public Education Department, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Agriculture, and farm, ranch, and nonprofit partners.

One of our Ernest Stapleton Coyotes is headed to the Super Bowl!
During a special school assembly today, Sophia Farwell, a 5th grader at ESE, received an incredible surprise: she was announced as one of only FIVE students nationwide selected to win two tickets to Super Bowl LXI through the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge and Finn’s Mission!
Sophia earned her chance to win by completing Finn’s Mission, which teaches students and families about heart health and lifesaving skills like Hands-Only CPR. Her commitment to learning skills that could one day help save a life has now earned her a trip to one of the biggest sporting events in the world!
We are incredibly proud of Sophia and all of our RRPS students who participated in this important program.
Congratulations, Sophia! We can’t wait to cheer you on as you head to Super Bowl LXI in Los Angeles next year!

Happy Labor Day from Rio Rancho Public Schools!
Labor Day has been celebrated for nearly 150 years, beginning with the first observance in New York City in 1882 and becoming a federal holiday in 1894. At its heart, the day recognizes the contributions working people make to the strength and well-being of their communities and our country.
That spirit is especially meaningful in public education. Every day, our teachers, educational assistants, bus drivers, custodians, nutrition professionals, maintenance teams, administrators, office staff and many others work together to create opportunities for students to learn, grow and succeed.
At RRPS, we believe supporting our employees means valuing their contributions while continuing to invest in their growth. Through professional learning, collaboration, meaningful feedback and strong partnerships, we can continue building an organization where both our students and the people who serve them can thrive.
Today, we celebrate the commitment and care exemplified by our incredible RRPS employees and working people throughout our community. Thank you for the difference you make each day.
