Fall has begun in this part of the world, but it's not done being hot and all the living things are looking for for places to stay comfortable, and there are an awful lot of them this year. We hope you stay comfortable, too, like this bumblebee.

I saw some firebrats in Rio Rancho, and I don't just mean my kids! These primitive insects are related to silverfish and seen mostly outside, but this is the first time I have seen any in years and years! And that's Captain Jay's Bug of the Day

Mosquitos are real bad here in Rio Rancho right now. Get some Inzectos. Buy some repellent that contains DEET. Be mindful of water resources where they can breed.

Check out this cool green crab spider. What does he have to be crabby about? Summertime is still in effect here in Rio Rancho, stay cool in the shade like this guy.
