Vibration damage is surprisingly common in construction using heavy equipment, despite poorly supported claims to the contrary by those who do construction or work for that industry. This page is intended as a public service venue where those with potential construction damage issues can exchange information and experiences. This page is public and may be viewed by anyone with an interest in vibration damage. Include in posts your own observations of vibration damage, your concerns and your questions. Our namesake public service website, http://vibrationdmage.com/ offers visitors a free, no-obligation whatsoever copy of the 120 page Construction Vibration Damage Guide for Homeowners (CVDG) (see above for cover). This document, written for non-scientists, includes over 200 color illustrations. It was developed as a free resource for those who believe they may have experienced damage to their homes or buildings as a possible result of construction activities in their vicinity.

Equipment Misuse
Some types of equipment used in construction jobs have to capacity to create damage in homes even when used properly. However, the likelihood of damage increases dramatically when that equipment is misused - usually knowingly. Perhaps the most common of form of equipment misuse is pounding with an excavator bucket on to demolish concrete or pavement. In four of five jobs done in front of my own home, construction workers did just that. When told of the damage potential, they simply continued doing it. Such pounding on pavement has been reported over 70 times to us by others - all in the context of damage to homes and buildings. Sadly, this means that construction crews using excavators must be watched and videotaped continuously. Excavator misuse is not the only cause of completely unnecessary damage to homes, but it is one of the most prevalent.
Still working on it
Due to some changes in server configuration, outside out control, our CVDG Free Download form continues to work only intermittently. To the user, the form appears to work, but the data are not sent to me. If you have submitted the form, but got no response, this is the reason. Unfortunately, the data from the form are simply lost in most cases. This problem affects all the forms on the site. We are working on testing and implementing a new method of sending for data, which we hope to have ready within the week.
