Zacatecas Cafe is a family owned Mexican Restaurant, serving fine Mexican Food in Riverside since 19 Hello Zacatecas fans!
On behalf of my wife Vicky and myself Welcome! Many of you are well known costumers; others are sampling our menu for the first time. Here at Zacatecas it is our mission to provide you with unique and genuine Mexican food. Every dish is prepared with the same recipes my Mother created. As we approach our 50th Anniversary we reflect and remember the inspiration, dedication, and hard work. I started at a young age helping my mother cook after school and on weekends. The two of us would combine our ideas and created dishes like the Hamburger Ranchera and Stake picado. Over the years we continued to add more items and specialize in large party catering. Due to high demand and with the help of my Wife Vicky in 1996 we opened the banquet room. Since then we have hosted over 2,000 events.

Today we’re giving Mama Gloria her flowers. 💐❤️
If you’ve spent any time at Zacatecas Café, chances are you’ve seen Mama Gloria.
She’s one of those beautiful souls who walks through the door carrying nothing but love, energy, and a smile.
But Mama Gloria isn’t just a longtime customer—she’s family.
Her friendship with the Medina family goes back many years, including a beautiful friendship with our beloved Josefina Medina, who founded Zacatecas Café alongside her husband, Oscar. And through all these years, Mama Gloria has continued showing up, supporting us, loving on the family, and reminding us what this place has always been about: people, friendship, family, and community.
Here she is with John Medina, Josefina and Oscar’s son, and surrounded by some of the people who have been lucky enough to know and love her.

Today we celebrate the heavenly birthday of our founder, Oscar Medina. ❤️🎂
In 1963, Grandpa Oscar had the courage and vision to open a small restaurant off Park Avenue here in Riverside.
What began as a humble dream became something much bigger—a place where generations of families have gathered, shared meals, celebrated life, and made memories.
More than 60 years later, Zacatecas Cafe is still here, still serving the Riverside community, and still carrying on the legacy he began.
We are forever grateful for the foundation you built and the dream you gave our family.

¡VIVA MÉXICO! 🇲🇽
What a night at Zacatecas Café!
Our hearts are full after an incredible El Grito & Mexican Independence celebration!
Our banquet room was packed, the restaurant was full, and more than 200 guests came together for an unforgettable evening celebrating cultura, familia, música, tradición y comunidad.
We were honored to host this special celebration presented by Riverside County Supervisor Jose Medina, a dear friend of the Medina family, and to welcome community members, local leaders and special guests to Zacatecas Café.
The night came alive with phenomenal mariachi, Mariachi Promesa De México a beautiful performance by the Moreno Valley youth ballet folklórico, music by DJ Art Art Alcaraz and one of the most meaningful moments of the evening—the Mexican Consulado joining us for El Grito and ringing the bell.
Hearing the room come together for that moment was something we won’t soon forget.
To every performer, guest, organizer, community leader, and especially our incredible Zacatecas Café team who worked so hard to make the evening possible: GRACIAS. ❤️🤍💚
For more than 60 years, Zacatecas Café has been a place where Riverside comes together—where families celebrate milestones, traditions are passed from one generation to the next, and our community feels at home. Last night was another beautiful chapter in that story.

Hispanic Heritage Month begins today, and for us, it is deeply personal. ❤️🇲🇽
Since 1963, the story of Zacatecas Café has been a story of family, culture, hard work, and community.
It began with two people — Josefina and Oscar Medina — and a dream.
What they started in a small restaurant on Park Avenue became something much bigger than they could have imagined.
Through long days, early mornings, family recipes, sacrifice and a whole lot of love, they created a place where generations of Riverside families would come together.
A place to eat.
A place to celebrate.
A place to gather.
A place that felt like home.
More than six decades later, their legacy lives on — in the recipes Josefina passed down, in the Medina family who continue their work, and in every family that has made Zacatecas Café part of their own traditions. ❤️
For us, our Mexican heritage isn’t something we celebrate only during one month.
It is in our food.
It is in our family.
It is in our traditions.
It is in the way we welcome people to our table.
And it is something we have been incredibly proud to share with Riverside since 1963.
This Hispanic Heritage Month,
we honor the two people who started it all.

What a beautiful morning of community, connection, and conversation at Zacatecas Cafe. 🤎
Today, Riverside Latino Network gathered once again in our banquet room, bringing together community leaders, neighbors, and local officials for meaningful updates and an opportunity for our community to ask questions, voice concerns, and be heard.
We were honored to welcome Riverside Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson as this month’s special guest speaker, along with two City Council members.
The morning was filled with positive energy, networking, and a shared commitment to helping Riverside grow through leadership, collaboration, youth, community, and the arts.
That spirit means something special to us at Zacatecas Cafe.
When our founder, Oscar Medina, opened Zacatecas Cafe, he created more than a restaurant. Zacatecas became a gathering place — a place where people came to eat, connect, exchange ideas, support one another, and have a seat at the table.
In many ways, it became the community well — a place everyone could come to and drink from.
Seeing that tradition continue today is a beautiful thing. That’s the Zacatecas way. ❤️

The Capuchino family has been coming to Zacatecas Café since 1982, and we’re truly grateful for their many years of love, loyalty, and support.
A heartfelt thank-you to David Capuchino for bringing the whole family together and for allowing Zacatecas Café to be part of so many beautiful family memories.
Sundays are especially meaningful here. Families join us after church, gather around the table, enjoy a delicious meal, and create memories with the people they love most.
