On September 12, the same day Simone left for her forever home, another Rottweiler quietly took her place here.

Meet Kyra. 🐾

Kyra is a 6-year-old, 85-pound Rottweiler who came to us as an owner surrender while her family was going through a divorce.

She had been spending as many as 14 hours a day outside, and when she arrived, the tips of her ears were bloody from fly strikes.

I don’t typically take many owner surrenders in this age group. Adult dogs come with years of habits and history, and sometimes those behaviors are much harder to change than with a little sponge of a puppy.

But after reading Kyra’s story, I knew I at least needed to meet her.

And then I met her.

Well s**t. 😂 She was staying.

Kyra is 85 pounds of unadulterated Rottweiler heaviness. She’s a weighted blanket with legs and absolutely delightful.

😂 Personal space? Never heard of her.

We kept her ears protected with a cone while they healed, and on September 28, she finally had her big vet day.

Kyra was spayed and had two masses removed one believed to be a small cyst and another that was sent for histopathology. We’re currently waiting for those results.

Her surgery totaled approximately $528.

For now, our professional ball athlete is recovering. Once she’s healed and we have her pathology results, Kyra will be ready for adoption.

Whoever gets this girl is getting 85 pounds of joy, enthusiasm and the world’s heaviest weighted blanket. 🖤

We all know how that usually ends. 🤦‍♀️😂

💜 MEET SHERMAN & HARLYN💜

I don’t even work with little dogs. 🤦‍♀️ I am the land of Rottweilers, Shepherds & assorted house ponies. I like my dogs approximately the size of livestock.

And yet, here we are. 🤦‍♀️

Harlyn & Sherman were found separately, one day apart. We don’t believe they’re related. Both were placed on stray hold while we searched for the owners we were SURE had to be looking for them.

Nobody ever came.

On Sept. 8, I agreed to babysit them for 10 days while my friend Candice attended training and their holds played out.

TEN DAYS. That was the plan. 😂

Then I noticed Harlyn’s ear.

What I thought was an ear hematoma turned out to require a TECA Total Ear Canal Ablation. With estimates of $4,700–$6,000 here, I got connected with a rescue who used their trusted veterinarian in Mexico.

So Harlyn got an international medical field trip. 🇲🇽😂

She’s now spayed, had her dental/extractions AND her TECA, and is home healing beautifully. Her care here was approximately $625 + $576.10 for her TECA & $350 transport fee for door to vet to door delivery. roughly $1,500 getting this little 3-year-old fluffy Frenchie healthy. 💜

And then there’s SHERMAN. (I wish I didn’t love him like I do)

Also about 3, Sherman is neutered, healthy and ADOPTION READY.

His ears were cropped into adorable little circles, earning him the nickname Mickey Mouse Ears. 🐭

He’s a traveling circus/snuggle bunny extraordinaire who can launch himself FOUR FEET into the air for a ball and then crawl into your lap like he didn’t just perform his own halftime show. 😂

They were supposed to be safe for a few days while somebody came looking for them.

Nobody did.

So we did what we do.

We got them healthy. We made them ours. Now we’ll make sure the next people who call them theirs are the ones who stay. 💜

🚨 THE “I’M 47 POSTS BEHIND” UPDATE 😂🐾

The dogs are recovering faster than I can post, so here’s the condensed version of WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING at the rescue 💜

❗️KIM & BRONX:❗️(final update)
Your donations provided motel stays, necessities, food, phone service, medications, transportation and Bronx’s neuter/care.

Toward the end of our involvement, Kim left the motel with Bronx alone in the room. Approximately 16 hours passed without her returning. When I entered, there was urine and f***s throughout the room, including his crate. I have photos/video documenting the conditions.

Bronx was removed and taken somewhere safe. Kim never returned to the motel.

I ended further assistance and have had no communication with Kim for five days. That is where my involvement with Kim ends.

Remaining donated funds helped Lucky, a 16-year-old Maltipoo/Shih Tzu, receive grooming and dental care. His extractions were generously gifted. Just LOOK at his before & after. 🥹💜

🐾 MEATBALL: Our broken-leg baby is safe and receiving care. Emergency hospitalization/treatment: $1,546.

🖤 VADER A595350: SAFE + neutered today! $260. Invoice coming via email.

🍒 PEI-WEI: Spayed, cherry-eye repaired, double dewclaws removed, vaccinated, rabies, microchipped and HEALED! $757.92. And she is officially ADOPTION READY! 🎉

Meanwhile, I still owe you introductions for Harlyn, Sherman, Kyra, Herschel, Althea, Walker Texas Ranger, Blackjack and apparently Korra. 🤦‍♀️

Harlyn has already gone to Tijuana for surgery before I even introduced her, with another $600 in expenses. Her fundraiser is next.

And after an actual census…

I am officially so far behind on updates that the dogs are recovering faster than I can post about them 🤦‍♀️

Every time I sit down to catch everyone up, something else happens, another dog arrives, somebody needs surgery, somebody gets neutered, somebody heals, and suddenly the update I was going to write is already three updates behind (story of my life)

So instead of continuing to avoid it because I don’t know where to start, we’re doing one giant WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING AT YOUR LOVE UNLEASHED update

FIRST KIM & BRONX🩷

I know many of you have been waiting for an update, and because there has been a lot surrounding this situation, I am going to keep this portion limited to factual information I can personally speak to.

Over the course of our involvement, donations from this community helped provide Kim and Bronx with immediate assistance, including motel stays, clothing and personal necessities, food, a phone bill, medication, transportation and other basic needs.

Bronx was also neutered while we were assisting them, and we provided his medications and care surrounding that procedure.

Toward the end of our involvement, Kim left a motel (not the one paid for by us) while Bronx remained alone in the room. Approximately 16 hours passed without her returning.

I received a phone call from her friend, letting me know Kim wasn’t there, door was ajar and Bronx was inside losing his mind. I raced over trying to best both animal control and the police, When I entered the room, there was urine and f***s throughout the room, including inside Bronx’s crate. I have photos and video documenting the condition of the room.

Bronx was removed from those conditions and taken somewhere safe.

Kim never returned to the motel.

After everything that transpired, I made the decision to end my involvement and any further financial assistance 🙏

I have had no communication with Kim for the past five days.

At this point, Kim is responsible for her own housing, medical care, finances and next steps. Your Love Unleashed is no longer providing assistance to her.

There was a small amount of money remaining from the funds donated to help Kim and Bronx. Rather than allowing it to sit unused, we used it to help a 16-year-old Maltipoo/Shih Tzu who needed some love of his own. He received a much needed groom and dental care, with his extractions generously gifted because of our multiple back to back veterinary visits.

I’ll include his before and after photos and invoice because the transformation is pretty darn sweet. 🩷

I am incredibly grateful to everyone who stepped up when we asked for help. You provided real, tangible assistance when it was needed. If any of you are upset about the remaining funds helping another human and her dog, I will happily reimburse you.

That is where my involvement with Kim ends.

NOW MEATBALL. 🥺

If you’ve been following along, you know this little guy came to us with a broken leg.

I’ll include a video update of Meatball with this post because his story deserves more than two sentences buried in my chaos. (Add it to stories since FB hates me)

His emergency hospitalization and treatment from 9/29–9/30 came to:

$1,546.00

I’ll also attach his invoice so everyone can see exactly where we are.

He is safe, he’s being cared for, and now we keep moving forward one step and apparently one orthopedic adventure at a time.

💙VADER A595350 from SBC IS SAFE.

While all eyes were understandably on the baby with the broken leg, Vader needed out too. So Vader came with us.

He wasn’t facing a medical deadline. He was simply sitting there long enough that his length of stay had put him on the list CODE RED of course

Today, Vader officially checked another item off his rescue to do list:

He’s safe. He is home and recovering, happily medicated.

I KNOW (I wish you could all see into this monster brain of mine. Squirrels on a wheel.

Harlyn especially needs her own post because girlfriend has already gone to Tijuana for surgery before I even managed to properly introduce her. Her medical expenses are stacking up, including an additional $600 in Tijuana expenses, so her full story and fundraiser are coming separately.

Althea’s introduction will also be handled separately and carefully. She came to us from an extraordinarily sensitive situation involving significant trauma. Her story is hers, and I will not sensationalize what happened to her in order to raise money or engagement.

You will know what you need to know about this beautiful girl without her trauma becoming her identity.

And somewhere in between all of this, I apparently need to introduce the rest of the residents of this furry municipality. 😂

For anyone keeping track, we did a census tonight.

There are currently 25 dogs in our foster program.

TWENTY FIVE.

No wonder I couldn’t figure out where to start. 🤦‍♀️

So this is me officially ripping off the Band-Aid and getting caught up (if I can keep my eyes open)

There will be individual introductions, medical updates, adoption ready posts and receipts coming, because transparency matters to me and because every one of these dogs deserves their own moment instead of being lost in the shuffle.

But for tonight:

Meatball is safe.
Vader is safe and neutered.
Pei-Wei is healed and ADOPTION READY.
My involvement with Kim has ended.
And apparently I have about eight dogs to introduce you to. (We should laugh or I may cry)

The original pull and transport plan has officially fallen apart, and at the end of all of it, there are still two dogs sitting there who need someone to actually show up for them.

So I’m going.

One is the puppy with the broken leg. He will be going directly to an orthopedic surgeon, (he’s already been dropped off) and based on what we know right now, we are expecting his orthopedic care and surgery to cost upwards of $3,500.

And then Vader, a young Lab mix who is also coming with me. Vader isn’t injured , he has simply reached his deadline because of length of stay. He deserves out just as much as the puppy does.

Vader will need everything that comes with bringing a new dog into rescue: neuter, vaccines, microchip, medical evaluation, food and expenses that add up incredibly quickly

This was NOT the original plan.

I agreed to help facilitate a pull and transport for another person I did not expect to suddenly be taking financial and medical responsibility for two additional dogs, including one requiring major orthopedic surgery.

But somewhere along the way, the plan disappeared.

The dogs didn’t.

And whatever happened between the humans involved is not going to become their death sentence.
And now I need your help.

We need to raise at least $3,500 for the orthopedic puppy alone, plus Vader’s neuter, vaccines and intake expenses.

If you can throw $5, $10, $20 or anything at all toward getting these two safely through our doors and the puppy into surgery, I would be incredibly grateful.

I’m frustrated. I’m exhausted. This was absolutely not on today’s agenda.
