Robert Frost’s “Nothing Gold Can Stay” is a beautiful reminder of how quickly the seasons of this life pass.

The first green of spring, the glow of dawn, the people and moments we hold dear—so much of what is precious to us can seem to pass all too quickly.

Yet our faith reminds us that even as the things of this world fade, God’s love remains. Death does not have the final word.

As we watch summer slowly begin to give way to another season, may we treasure the beauty God places before us, cherish the people He has given us to love, and remember with tenderness those who have gone before us.

"The world and its enticement are passing away. But whoever does the will of God remains forever."

— 1 John 2:17

May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

🌹 The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary 🌹

Today, we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, when Mary was taken body and soul into the glory of Heaven.

For those of us who have entrusted loved ones to God’s care, this beautiful feast offers a special reminder: death does not have the final word. Through Christ, we live in the hope of the resurrection and the promise of eternal life.

As we honor our Blessed Mother, may we ask for her prayers for all those who have gone before us.

🙏 Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

May Our Lady of the Assumption bring comfort to those who mourn and lead all of us closer to her Son.

Our Lady of the Assumption, pray for us.

✝️ Religious figures of the Church: St. Clare of Assisi ✝️

Born in Assisi, Italy, in 1194, Clare grew up in a wealthy and prominent family. As a young woman, however, she was deeply moved by the preaching and example of St. Francis of Assisi. At the age of 18, Clare quietly left behind the comfortable life that had been planned for her and dedicated herself to a life of prayer, poverty, and service to Christ.

Other women soon joined her, including members of her own family. Together, they formed a religious community at San Damiano outside Assisi. Clare became its spiritual mother and leader, and the community eventually became known as the Poor Clares.

For more than 40 years, St. Clare lived a humble life centered on prayer, devotion, and care for her sisters. She embraced poverty and simplicity and possessed remarkable strength, remaining steadfast in protecting the way of life to which she and her sisters had been called, and trusting completely in God's providence.

St. Clare died on August 11, 1253, and was canonized just two years later by Pope Alexander IV.

Her story still speaks beautifully to us today—especially in places where we remember those who have gone before us in faith. Cemeteries remind us that worldly possessions are temporary, while the love we give, the faith we nurture, and the lives we touch can leave a legacy far beyond our earthly years.

May St. Clare inspire us to live more simply, love more generously, and place our trust more fully in God. 🙏

St. Clare of Assisi, pray for us.

The Canadian wildfire smoke continues to impact air quality across Metro Detroit, serving as a reminder to slow down and take care of ourselves and those around us.

If possible, stay indoors, limit strenuous outdoor activities, keep windows closed, and check the Air Quality Index before spending extended time outside. Those with heart or lung conditions, older adults, young children, and pregnant women should take extra precautions while air quality remains poor.

As a community rooted in faith, compassion, and care for one another, we encourage you to check in on family, friends, and neighbors who may be especially vulnerable. A small act of kindness can make a meaningful difference.

Please stay safe and healthy.

✝️Religious Figures of the Church: St. Kateri Tekakwitha✝️

St. Kateri Tekakwitha is remembered as a remarkable witness to the Catholic faith and a powerful example of trusting God through life's greatest trials. Born in 1656 in present-day New York, she was orphaned by a smallpox epidemic as a child and lived with the lasting effects of the disease. Despite facing misunderstanding and persecution after converting to Catholicism, Kateri remained steadfast in her love for Christ. She devoted herself to prayer, the Holy Eucharist, and a life of humility, earning the nickname "Lily of the Mohawks." In 2012, Pope Benedict XVI canonized her as the first Native American saint.

St. Kateri's life reminds us that holiness is found not in a life free from suffering, but in faithfully following Christ through every season. Her quiet devotion and unwavering trust in God's plan continue to inspire us to seek His grace, embrace His mercy, and live with the hope of the Resurrection. Through her intercession, may we grow in faith and find comfort in Christ's promise of eternal life.

Today, July 14, we celebrate her feast day.

Christina Rossetti's beloved poem Remember reminds us that love does not end when life on earth does. While we naturally long to hold on to precious memories, the poem gently offers an even greater gift—that love is found not only in remembering, but also in allowing those we cherish to live on through the joy, kindness, and faith we carry forward.

As Christians, we find comfort in the promise that death is not the end, but the beginning of eternal life with Christ. Our loved ones remain forever in God's loving embrace, and the memories we treasure become reminders of the hope we share in the resurrection.

May today be a moment to remember with gratitude, to love without measure, and to find peace in the promise that one day we will be reunited in God's everlasting kingdom. ❤️

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." — Matthew 5:4

Remember
By: Christina Rossetti

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.
