While Live Nation, Veeps, and Sony gut the music industry (see previous post), the trend of gutting workers continues across the U.S. economy.

Labor Bureau statistics released today show that workers' compensation as a percentage of GDP is now at its lowest level since tracking began in 1947.

The rich get richer, and the workers get less until we organize and fight for our fair share.

Live Nation and Veeps are gutting iconic alternative magazines. Sony is trying to shut down Kings Road Merch. Corporate vultures are buying and destroying independent music businesses. It needs to stop.

One thing everyone can do today is follow KRM Union to support their fight to keep Kings Road Merch open and win fair pay.

For anyone out there who owns an independent business, please create a transition plan that doesn't include selling to a giant corporation. If you have workers, consider turning it into a worker-owned cooperative!
