Founded in 1959, we are a Reform Jewish congregation, continually evolving and growing to meet the needs of congregants and the Jewish people.

We foster Jewish identity and values through individual and group connection to God. Our congregation began in 1959 when two-dozen families came together to establish a new Reform congregation in the Rochester, New York area. Their goal to create a synagogue that lived up to Reform Jewish values and that provided a safe and inclusive environment for Jewish spiritual, educational and social fulfillment remains strong and vibrant today

Dear Temple Sinai Family,

This year, as we enter the High Holy Days, we are also coming home. After fifty years, our High Holy Day services are returning to Temple Sinai.

Rosh Hashanah begins this year on September 11 — a date that reminds us how fragile our world can be, and how deeply we need places of meaning, connection, and hope.

Coming home is about more than a building. It is about returning to one another — with our differences, our questions, our hopes, and our shared responsibility for the community we are creating together.

We enter this new year carrying concern for Israel, for our own country, and for a world that often feels unsettled. In such a time, our spiritual home matters all the more: a place where Judaism is defined positively — by meaning, learning, prayer, compassion, joy, community, and the work of making life more sacred.

May Temple Sinai be a place where we breathe more deeply, listen more carefully, and remember what we are for, not only what we are against.

We look forward to coming home together this High Holy Day season — and to making Temple Sinai an ever stronger spiritual home in the year ahead.

Shanah Tovah,

Or Zohar, Senior Rabbi
