Such an amazing way to start my morning!!!!!

Dear District 2 and Rock Hill Schools families,
This is my formal announcement that I will not seek re-election to the Rock Hill Schools Board of Trustees this fall.
Serving on the School Board has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I am incredibly grateful to the people of District 2 for trusting me to represent our students, families, educators, and community. It is a responsibility I have never taken lightly.
When I first ran for School Board in 2014, I believed we needed younger voices at the table. I still do. I also believe in term limits. Healthy organizations need new people, new ideas, and new generations of leaders who are willing to step forward. To me, the true measure of leadership isn't how long you can hold onto a seat. It's whether you leave it ready for the person who comes next. I think that time has come for District 2. School boards are a little different from many other elected bodies because there is profound value in having younger leaders and parents at the table who are experiencing our schools in real time. I know someone will step forward with fresh ideas, energy, and a deep commitment to public education and say, “It’s my turn.”
But let me be very clear: I’m not going anywhere just yet.
We still have months of important work ahead, and I am genuinely excited about them. Until the election in November, I plan to show up, speak up, ask questions, advocate fiercely, and represent District 2 just as strongly as I did on my first day. And anyone who knows me knows that quietly coasting toward the finish line was probably never going to be an option anyway.
There is also a very personal reason this feels like the right time.
This spring, my youngest daughter, Izzy, will begin her final semester of high school. She has quite literally never had a mom who wasn't on the School Board. I filed to run for the first time the same week she started kindergarten. That is pretty wild to think about.
For the first time, I am looking forward to simply being her mom during those final months. I want to enjoy senior spring, celebrate all the “lasts,” take way too many pictures, embarrass her at least a few times, and, along with my husband, be fully present for her as this chapter of our family's life in Rock Hill Schools comes to a close.
I am sure inquiring minds will want to know what comes next. I know I will continue advocating for children and families through my work on the National PTA Board. I am also excited to continue working toward my doctorate and digging deeper into how we build stronger educational systems for the children and families they serve.
Beyond that? I’ll let you know when I know.
Serving on the School Board has brought some of the very best moments of my life and, if we're being truthful, some of the hardest ones too. I have learned a lot. I have grown a lot. I have laughed, cried, gained friendships, lost a few, and sat through more meetings than any reasonable person should probably admit to.
And I wouldn't trade the experience for the world.
I am enormously proud of what we have accomplished together, but I am just as excited about what comes next for Rock Hill Schools, for District 2, for the next generation of leaders, and, yes, for me and my family.
Serving the children and families of District 2 and Rock Hill Schools has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life. But I have always believed elected office is service, not an identity or a career. The seat belongs to the community, not to the person who happens to be sitting in it.
I still have work to do, and I plan to make every remaining day count. I will continue supporting Dr. Elder and her team and, most importantly, continue being a strong voice for the students, families, and community I was elected to serve.

Friendly reminder for all for tomorrow! Please help keep all of our babies safe ❤️!
School buses will be back on the roads next week.
SC law 56-5-2770: You MUST stop for a school bus the entire time its red or amber lights are flashing, OR its stop arm is extended.
Behind the bus? Stop, every time.
Opposite direction on a multi-lane highway? You may proceed with caution.
Every other scenario? STOP.
Our Traffic Enforcement Unit will be out in force the next few weeks looking for those impatient drivers who may dare to pass a stopped school bus picking up or dropping off students.
