BIG ART NEWS AT ROCHELL!

For the past five weeks, every class has been busy creating something special… and yes, I even managed to squeeze in our precious Pre-K kiddos!

Rochell Elementary is excited to announce that we will be hosting our FIRST Artome Art Show this year in conjunction with our Title I Literacy Night on October 22nd!

You might be asking, "What exactly is Artome?" Great question!

Artome is a fundraiser that supports our art program. Every student (with the exception of those who joined us in the past couple of weeks) has created an original artwork that has been carefully boxed up and sent to
Artome. There, each piece will be matted and framed, giving our students the opportunity to see their artwork presented like a professional gallery piece!

On the evening of our Art Show, you will have the opportunity to:

Admire your child's artwork on display.

Purchase your child's professionally matted and framed masterpiece.

Take your purchase home that very same evening!

I will be sending out all the information you need to know about the Artome Art Show over the next few weeks, so be on the lookout!

As for me, I am SO excited that all the artwork is boxed up and on its way!

Now, it’s time to move on to our next artistic adventure!!!

Rochell Rangers made their mark today during our Dot Day celebration! Hundreds upon hundreds of dot stickers were placed on the walls and floors, transforming our space into a colorful, immersive celebration of creativity!

We even had a Dot Scavenger Hunt for our teachers and staff! Lucky dot finders got to claim a special “dot” pom-pom garland created by Rochell students and myself.

Thank you, Rangers, for making today such a fun and colorful celebration! Keep making your mark!

Tomorrow we are celebrating International Dot Day at Rochell!

These cute girls helped me today with creating our awesome dot floor, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience all the colorful fun!

Wednesday Art Club was busy prepping their canvases today by decoupaging colorful scrapbook paper! Next, they will transform their canvases into amazing positive and negative space paintings. We can’t wait to see their creative masterpieces come to life!

Wednesday Art Club Magic!

Our Art Club artists created these gorgeous pour paintings yesterday, and WOW—they turned out beautifully!

I was a little too busy (and covered in paint! ) to take photos of them in action, but here are a couple of pictures showing how their masterpieces turned out.

Even better…they’re now on display in the glass cabinets in the main hallway at Rochell!

On Friday, September 11, Rochell Rangers will be celebrating International Dot Day!

Inspired by the beloved book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, Dot Day encourages students to “make your mark”—to be creative, take risks, and discover that even the smallest dot can become something amazing!

During their specials time, our students will help create an immersive dot-filled art installation inspired by the incredible artist Yayoi Kusama! We’ll be surrounded by dots as we explore creativity, imagination, and the power of making our own mark.

And, of course, we CAN’T WAIT to see everyone’s most creative dot-inspired outfits!

Let’s fill Rochell with dots, creativity, and a whole lot of fun!

Not to worry if your child doesn’t have something “dotty” to wear I have a special dot sticker for them all!!!

Monday Art Club!

Our Art Club artists began creating their vase sculptures today!

They started by securing paper takeout soup containers to the bottom of a ball to create the base of their vase. Then, they added a paper cup from the nurse’s office to the top to create the vase opening.

Then came the messy part! Our artists covered their entire sculptures with plaster strips, getting good and messy as they built a sturdy surface for their designs.

Next time: They’ll decoupage beautiful patterned tissue paper over the entire sculpture to bring their unique vase designs to life!

I can’t wait to see the finished creations!
