Did you know your IRA can support the community you call home?
If you’re age 70½ or older, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows you to make a gift directly from your IRA to an eligible charitable organization.
For those who are required to take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), a QCD can also count toward that annual requirement.
QCDs can’t be made to donor-advised funds, but through the Community Foundation for Greater Rome, a QCD CAN support:
• The Greater Rome Impact Fund — investing broadly in needs and opportunities across our community
• Other eligible charitable funds held at the Community Foundation
If charitable giving is already part of your plans, talk with your financial or tax advisor about whether a QCD makes sense for you.
Then, let us help you put that generosity to work right here in Greater Rome.

What if you want to give back to Greater Rome—but don’t want to choose just one organization?
That’s why the Greater Rome Impact Fund exists. Think of it as a permanent community chest for Rome and Floyd County. Gifts from people who care about this community are invested together, and a portion is used each year to make grants addressing important local needs and opportunities.
The fund isn’t tied to one organization or one issue, so it can evolve as Greater Rome does.
This year, we’ve taken another step toward making those dollars work strategically—making fewer, larger grants and looking closely at the need being addressed, the potential for meaningful change, and the lasting benefit to our community.
Because the Greater Rome Impact Fund is permanent, a gift made today can continue supporting Greater Rome for generations.
Keep giving to the organizations you love. And if you’d also like to invest in the community as a whole, the Greater Rome Impact Fund is one way to do both.

A donor-advised fund at the Community Foundation for Greater Rome allows you to organize your charitable giving while keeping your fund connected to the community you call home.
Already use a donor-advised fund for your charitable giving?
A DAF doesn't have to be held by a national provider. You can move yours home to Rome and continue recommending grants to eligible charitable organizations you care about—including organizations outside Rome and Floyd County.

Available opportunities include:
• Three or four grants of $20,000–$25,000
• One grant of up to $9,000 for work serving children in need
• One grant of up to $5,000 for work that enriches spiritual life, promotes diversity, or advances social justice
The application uses a new two-step process. All applicants begin with a short application, and only selected finalists will be asked for more information.
Applications close August 21.
Join our optional Zoom information session at 10:00 a.m. on August 10 to learn more about the opportunities and application process.

We are honored to partner with Rome Rotary on an exciting project that will celebrate an important chapter of our community's history.
This week, Rome Rotary announced plans to construct a memorial honoring the Cherokee Nation. The memorial will be located at the entrance to Chieftains Museum, along the property line with Ridge Ferry Park, creating a lasting place for reflection, education, and remembrance.
We're pleased to serve as the charitable partner for this community effort by accepting tax-deductible contributions to help bring the vision to life. The fundraising goal is to secure at least $100,000 by Labor Day so the selected sculptor can begin work, with completion anticipated in time for the Cherokee Nation's 200th anniversary of its Constitution in July 2027.
Sonny Ledford, Cultural Ambassador for the Cherokee Nation, shared with Rotary that the tribe is pleased with the vision for this meaningful project, making this a truly collaborative effort to honor history with respect.
If you'd like to help make this memorial possible, visit www.cffgr.org, click the green DONATE button, and select the Rome Rotary "But One Summer More" campaign fund.

A strong community creates opportunities for everyone to belong.
This summer, ESP is hosting its largest Day Camp season ever, serving 85 children and young adults with disabilities through four weeks of programming. After two incredible weeks, campers are now looking ahead to Overnight Camp—a week of unforgettable experiences for participants and meaningful respite for their families.
We're grateful to have supported this work through a grant from the Greater Rome Impact Fund. Investing in organizations like ESP helps build a community where every individual is welcomed, included, and given the opportunity to thrive.

Nonprofit leaders are constantly asked to do more with less.
Special events can build awareness, engage supporters, and generate revenue—but they also require significant investments of time, volunteer capacity, and staff energy.
Mark your calendars for a free workshop next month exploring the true return on investment (ROI) of nonprofit special events.
