This week, DefendEdge's CTI department analyzed the emerging threat actor ShinyCorps, which has recently surfaced through claims involving large-scale data theft and the sale of compromised information and access. Public reporting on the group remains limited, with much of its activity observed through Telegram-based claims.
ShinyCorps has claimed a breach involving Vietnam's Credit Information Center (CIC), alleging access to more than 160 million records. The group has also claimed to possess Vercel-related access keys, source code, and API credentials, as well as more than 637 million Ticketmaster user records. Its reported activity primarily centers on data theft, compromised access, and monetization, though many of its claims remain unverified.

🚨 New Blog Posted🚨

FortiBleed highlights the security risks of compromised credentials targeting internet-facing FortiGate devices, which could let threat actors gain unauthorized access to critical network infrastructure.

Organizations should prioritize credential rotation, multi-factor authentication (MFA), security updates, configuration hardening, and continuous monitoring for suspicious activity. Security updates alone may not eliminate the risk if compromised credentials remain valid.

DefendEdge's latest blog examines the FortiBleed campaign, its potential security implications, and recommended mitigation strategies to help organizations strengthen their FortiGate environments.

Did you think incognito mode makes you invisible online? Many people do.

Here is the truth. Incognito mode only stops your browser from saving your history and cookies on your device. Your internet provider, your workplace, and every website you visit can still see exactly what you are doing.

It hides your activity from people who share your computer. It does NOT hide it from the internet.

If you want real privacy, look into a VPN. But even that isn't perfect. The bottom line: know what your tools actually do before you trust them with your privacy.

🛡️ 5 Ransomware Prevention Tips That Actually Work

Ransomware costs are projected to reach $265B by 2031. But most attacks follow predictable patterns — and are preventable.

1️⃣ Immutable backups: Follow 3-2-1 rule. Test restores quarterly.
2️⃣ Email filtering: 91% of ransomware starts with phishing.
3️⃣ Patch management: Unpatched VPNs and RDP are top entry points.
4️⃣ MFA everywhere: Especially on remote access and admin accounts.
5️⃣ 24/7 monitoring: Detect lateral movement before encryption starts.

DefendEdge's US-based SOC provides all of the above with 99% SLA achievement.

A phone call from your bank may look legitimate, but caller ID can be spoofed, and the person on the other end may already be prepared to steal your credentials.

In our latest post, we break down how threat actors combine vishing, bank impersonation, credential-harvesting websites, and real-time MFA social engineering to take over financial accounts and conduct unauthorized transactions. We also examine threat actors using similar TTPs and key steps organizations can take to reduce their exposure.

Here's a number that should make you pause: 95% of cyberattacks start with a phishing email.

That means almost every single breach, hack, or ransomware attack begins with someone clicking a link they shouldn't have. Not some genius hacker breaking through a firewall. Just a fake email that looked real enough.

And the average cost of a data breach in 2026? Over $4 million per incident. That's not just big companies. Small businesses get hit too, and they're less likely to recover.

The good news? This is the easiest threat to train for. Teach your team to spot phishing emails and you've already closed the door on 95% of attacks.

Hackers have stolen the personal information of 8.8 million people from Denmark's national population database in what may be the country's largest data breach ever.

Here is what happened: Denmark keeps a central registry of everyone who has lived in the country, called the Central Person Register (CPR). It holds records on about 11 million people, including current residents, people who moved away, and those who have passed away.

The attackers did not break into the system by hacking through security walls. Instead, they used a private company's legal access to the database. Under Danish law, certain companies can look up information in the CPR for legitimate business reasons. The attackers used this company's access to run over 14 million automated searches in just 10 days during September, pulling out names, addresses, and national ID numbers for 8.8 million people.

The breach was discovered on October 2 when officials noticed an unusually large billing amount during routine invoicing. Denmark's minister called it "a deeply serious incident" and ordered a full security review.

Why this matters: The national ID numbers stolen in this breach are used for healthcare, banking, and government services, and they are designed to last a person's entire lifetime. This means the risk to affected individuals could continue for years. The attack also shows how dangerous it can be when companies are given direct access to sensitive national databases.

Share this with your IT team and make sure your organization is monitoring its third-party data access.

Let's talk about what keeps your business safe.

What is Vulnerability Management?

Vulnerability management is the continuous process of identifying, assessing, prioritizing, and remediating security weaknesses across your systems before attackers can exploit them. Unlike a one-time scan that gives you a snapshot, vulnerability management is an ongoing cycle that keeps pace with new threats as they emerge.

DefendEdge performs vulnerability scans on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual cadence based on your risk profile, covering both infrastructure and application source code. Findings are prioritized using severity scoring, threat intelligence, and exploitability data so your team fixes what matters most first. Each vulnerability gets an owner, a deadline, and verification that the remediation actually worked.

Why does this matter now? The 2026 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report found that vulnerability exploitation climbed to 31% of breaches, overtaking stolen credentials as the top initial access vector for the first time in the report's 19-year history. Attackers are exploiting flaws faster than teams are patching them.

A structured vulnerability management program reduces your attack surface, shortens time-to-remediate, and gives you documented evidence for compliance frameworks like ISO 27001, NIST, and SOC 2.
