We are grateful to be selected as the beneficiary of Shaw's Give Back Where it Counts fundraiser for the month of October! All month long, Shaw's will donate $1 for each $3.00 GIVE BACK WHERE IT COUNTS Reusable Bag sold at the Shaw's S**o location (on Scammon Street) to Dyer Library. We appreciate the support from our community!

Last week we enjoyed a lovely and well-attended opening reception for our current museum exhibit “Mixed Palettes”, on display through October 23rd. At appointed times during the exhibit’s run, the three exhibiting artists will be in residence in the Main Gallery to work on current projects and answer questions. Celebrate Fire Prevention Week (October 4th-10th) at the library with a special visit from our local emergency responders! On Wednesday, October 7th we’ll start with a safety-themed storytime at 1:30 PM, followed by an exciting Touch-a-Truck experience and snacks from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Come meet your local heroes, explore emergency vehicles up close, and learn how to stay safe! Open to all ages.

Join us on Thursday, October 8th at 6PM for a visit with local authors Stacey Huth & Noah T. Gibbs as they discuss their book "An Experiment in Birding", an account of their record-setting "Big Year" birdwatching journey! For birders and non-birders alike 🐦‍⬛🦅🦉🐦

A mystery is unfolding in the Deering Mansion on Friday, October 23rd… and we need your help to solve it! Wander through our spooky, darkened building to uncover the clues you’ll need to solve the crime. Our fall fundraiser is a spooky good time for adults 21+ - your ticket includes pizza, a brew of your choice, and chills around every corner!

New this year: We are partnering with S**o Main Street to offer their S**o Noir Walk on the same night! You have the option to start your evening with a guided walk hosted by DLSM's Anatole Brown, who will lead you around some of S**o's historic sites with a ghostly or grisly past - with a few stops along the way. The walk will end at Dyer Library, where you will have the latest and spookiest (that is to say, darkest!) entry to the Deering Mystery.

Our Community Clothing Swap last spring was such a success, we're doing it again! On Saturday, September 26 from 10AM-1PM, come refresh your wardrobe while being kind to the planet. We'll be collecting clean, gently-used clothes for all ages the week of September 21st during regular library hours.
