Spring Valley Fire District

Due to increasing fire danger across the region, a burn ban will go into effect at 12:01 a.m. on June 16, 2026, for all of Polk and Yamhill Counties. This coordinated action is being taken in partnership with neighboring counties and the Oregon Department of Forestry to help reduce wildfire risk during the summer season.

The following activities are prohibited:

❌ Open burning
❌ Burn barrels
❌ Burning yard debris, slash piles, or other outdoor materials

The following activities are currently permitted:

✅ Barbecues and outdoor cooking appliances used according to manufacturer guidelines
✅ Recreational and warming fires where otherwise allowed and attended at all times
✅ Consumer fireworks where legally permitted

Although fireworks remain legal at this time, everyone is urged to use caution. Dry fuels, warm temperatures, and seasonal conditions can cause even a small spark to spread rapidly and ignite a wildfire.

Fire agencies throughout Polk County will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and fire activity. Additional restrictions may be enacted during periods of elevated fire danger, including Red Flag Warning events.

On Sunday, Spring Valley Fire District had the opportunity to participate in a regional training exercise hosted by Yamhill Fire District. The exercise focused on water supply operations and the coordination of mutual aid resources during large-scale incidents.

Multiple fire agencies came together to train, strengthen partnerships, and enhance our ability to work seamlessly with neighboring agencies. Opportunities like this help ensure we are prepared to provide the highest level of service to our communities when it matters most.
