2 DAYS TO GO!

The Back to School Bazaar is more than a supply giveaway. It is a place where families can meet organizations that serve children from birth through high school and discover support they may not have known was available.

We are grateful for community partners and are looking forward to sharing this event with them.

Families can also look forward to free student haircuts, school supplies, free food, activities, raffles and giveaways, affordable computers, local vendors and 25¢ clothing.

3 DAYS TO GO—and we are still collecting school supplies!

Last-minute donations can make the difference between a partially filled backpack and one that is ready for the first day of school.

New backpacks, notebooks, paper, pencils, crayons, folders, binders, glue sticks, scissors and earbuds are especially helpful.

Message Students in Training or email [email protected] today to coordinate a donation. Monetary gifts can also help us purchase whichever items are still missing.

Please share this final supply-drive push with your workplace, church or community group.

IT TAKES A COMMUNITY TO MAKE THIS DAY POSSIBLE.

Volunteers help with setup, welcoming families, distributing supplies, serving food, activities, cleanup and many other details that make the Back to School Bazaar run smoothly.

Have a few hours to give on Saturday, August 8? Visit the Events page at sitorg.org and use the volunteer sign-up link.

Individuals, families, church groups, coworkers and service organizations are welcome. Thank you for helping us create a welcoming day for Rowan County families.

BRING YOUR QUARTERS—CLOTHING WILL BE ONLY 25¢ PER ITEM!

Our Bazaar clothing sale is designed to do two good things at once:
1. Help families find extremely affordable back-to-school clothing.
2. Raise funds toward a 15-passenger bus for Students in Training.

Reliable transportation would expand the field trips, career visits and educational opportunities we can provide to students. Clothing donations will still be accepted until Aug 7th!

Come shop Saturday, August 8, from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM at 3401 Mooresville Road in Salisbury. Clothing selection will vary and is available while supplies last.

WHY DOES A BACK TO SCHOOL BAZAAR MATTER?

In Rowan County, about 23.3% of children live below the poverty line—that is nearly 1 in every 4 children. For families already balancing housing, food, transportation, child care and medical expenses, a long school-supply list can create another difficult choice.

A backpack, basic supplies, clothing, a haircut or access to an affordable computer may seem small, but together they can lift a real burden from a parent’s shoulders and help a student enter school feeling included and prepared.

Last year, our community helped distribute 200 supply-filled backpacks at the Bazaar. This year, we hope to reach even more families.

Please donate, volunteer, attend or simply share the event.

A fresh haircut can help a student walk into the new school year feeling confident and ready.

FREE HAIRCUTS FOR STUDENTS will be available at the Back to School Bazaar on Saturday, August 8. Families are encouraged to arrive early because demand may be high.

The event is free and will also include school supplies, community resources, food, activities, giveaways, affordable computers and more.

COMMUNITY PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: – Eliminate the Digital Divide

A computer is no longer a luxury for many students. It is a tool for homework, research, communication, applications and career preparation.

E2D works to close the digital divide by collecting and refurbishing computers for students and families. At the Back to School Bazaar, E2D will be selling affordable laptops while supplies last.

Stop by on August 8 to learn more and see the available computers.

Thank you, E2D, for helping families gain meaningful access to technology.
