No two days in solar recycling look exactly alike. That suits Alex Bare, SPR's Solar Lead, just fine.

Facility expansions and technology upgrades give Alex something he craves: the chance to keep learning. He combines that curiosity with 12 years of hands-on recycling experience to solve problems, support his team, and keep our projects on schedule.

Meet Alex in our latest Powered by People feature: https://solarpanelrecycling.com/2026/08/powered-by-people-alex-bare/

Sustainability In Your Ear: Building Solar Panel Recycling Capacity with SPR's Brett Henderson 08/05/2026

“Logistics, nine times out of ten, is going to be the highest cost.”

Cost is a hot topic in solar recycling. In this episode of Earth911’s Sustainability In Your Ear podcast, our CEO, Brett Henderson, covers how technological advances and more consistent volumes have helped reduce SPR’s recycling costs by 42% over the past three years, with transportation continuing to be the primary driver in pricing.

He also discusses what it takes to scale responsible solar recycling, from recovering glass cleanly and building reliable end markets to navigating reuse, policy, and future capacity.

A big thanks to host Mitch Ratcliffe for the thoughtful conversation.

Solar panels don't always arrive recycling-ready.

Broken, weathered, or with extra hardware—like screwed-on aluminum frames—we take them as they come, even if they need some hands-on prep before processing.

Sometimes recycling starts with a power drill and a little elbow grease. Shout-out to our team for doing what it takes to keep the panels moving.

A big thank-you to Patterson Farm Market & Tours, Inc. for bringing the farmers market to us!

This month, they set up a mini market at our Salisbury, NC headquarters, where employees from SPR and our parent company, PowerHouse Recycling Inc., could shop for fresh produce, eggs, honey, and homemade treats (hello award-winning chocolate milk 🤤), courtesy of the company.

A fun way to support our teams and a local farm at the same time. That’s our kind of win-win.

Come talk trash with us in Philadelphia.

Solar trash, specifically.

The SPR team is headed to RE+ Mid-Atlantic on August 12-13 to talk solar recycling, logistics, compliance, and what responsible end-of-life management looks like at scale. Bring your questions to booth 719.

Solar panel glass is one of the most challenging materials to recover and reuse. But when it’s processed properly and matched with the right end markets, it can move back into productive use.

In Part Two of our series on solar glass, we move from the challenge to the opportunity: how recovered glass can move into viable domestic reuse pathways. We’re also highlighting one of SPR's strategic glass partners to show what solar glass reuse can look like in practice.

As we mark 250 years of independence, we’re thinking about the role clean energy plays in America’s future.

Building a stronger domestic clean energy economy depends on generation and the infrastructure to recover and recirculate the materials that power it. We’re proud to play a role in keeping valuable resources in the U.S. supply chain to support a more resilient, independent energy future.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July 🇺🇸
