Intermountain R/C Raceway is located in Salt Lake City, UT near the Oquirrah mountains just south of highway 21. For over 27 years, the Intermountain Raceway has been the premier indoor off-road track in Utah. Besides the indoor off-road dirt track, we also have a recently re-surfaced outdoor on-road track. We host regular competitions on both tracks all year long. We have a REAL indoor rock garden that can be changed at any time, great for 1.9 crawlers. Intermountain R/C Raceway is home to the second longest running Off-Road race in the country, The April Fools Classic (25th anniversary in 2013)
The April Fools Classic is one of the do not miss races in the country with top name drivers from around the country attending each year. In addition to the raceway, IRCR is a full-fledged hobby shop offering a large inventory of parts consistent with most retail hobby shops. If you can't find what you need we will gladly order it for you. We purchase from local and national distributors with a quick turn around, in some cases we can get your item the same day.

Right now Saturday is looking like 70° with only a small chance of rain during the day, so we’re planning to move forward with on-road racing as scheduled.
The weather can make up its mind later — we’ve already made up ours. 😎

🏁 2026 UTAH OFF-ROAD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP 🏁
What. A. Day.
55 drivers, 107 entries, and 9,606 laps made for an absolutely packed day of racing at Rocky Mountain RC Raceway. With racers joining us from Utah and neighboring states, there was action happening from the first qualifier all the way through the final mains.
There was way too much racing to catch every battle, but there are definitely a few moments we won’t forget.
🔥 17.5 Stock 2WD gave us one of the wildest finishes of the entire weekend. Shawn Stuart was holding onto the lead late in A2 with Seth Massery right behind him. Shawn was playing it safe through the back quad — single, single, single, single — and pretty soon the whole crowd was on their feet yelling it right along with him.
Then Shawn flipped.
Seth was suddenly right there and found an inside line coming into the tabletop double to squeeze past. But it STILL wasn’t over. They landed the double and it turned into a flat-out drag race to the finish line.
Seth got there first, with Shawn crossing just 0.325 seconds behind him. Five minutes of racing came down to one mistake, one pass, and a sprint to the stripe. THAT was a finish! 🔥
Modified Masters brought plenty of excitement too. Clifton Nicholson recovered from a fumble over the table top to take the A1 win, while Jason Luthman answered back in A2 and ultimately took the overall State Championship.
And then there was 21.5 Stock… probably best described simply as five minutes of fury. 😂
Even the marshals were putting on a show. Mike Powell, Dave Johnson, Broc Champlin RC, and Domnic Paccione showed off some seriously impressive verticals and fancy footwork throughout the day keeping cars moving. Some of those saves may have been just as impressive as the racing.
Our Sportsman racers also had the building behind them, with plenty of cheering through the good laps, the rough ones, and even a little accidental backwards driving. That’s what this hobby is all about.
There were wrecks, incredible saves, close battles, laughs, cheers, and more racing happening than we could possibly keep track of.
Most importantly, THANK YOU. Thank you to everyone who traveled to race with us, our local racers, marshals, families, spectators, and everyone who helped keep such a massive day moving.
