As flu season begins, getting an annual flu vaccine is still the most important step in preventing seasonal flu and spreading it to others. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone six months of age and older receive a flu vaccine every year, with rare exceptions for those with a history of allergic reactions.

A childhood dream turned into a career in caring for others.
In fifth grade, Cape Cod native Alexis Deane, RN, created a school poster about the things she liked and her hope of one day working in healthcare. She pursued that goal step by step — first becoming an LPN, then an RN and later earning her bachelor’s degree. She credits her mom with encouraging her to keep going along the way.
Today, as an ambulatory clinical trainer at Cape Cod Healthcare, she helps orient and educate nurses, certified medical assistants, physicians and advanced practice providers.
In our latest 10 Questions, get to know Alexis — from her first job at a local coffee shop to her perfect Cape Cod day.
