“How long do baby kangaroos stay in their mama’s pouch?”
In the wild, red kangaroo joeys spend about 7–8 months in the pouch.
Even after they start coming out, they’ll continue hopping back in for comfort and safety, and they’ll sometimes nurse until they’re maybe over a year old.
Down on the creek this evening.
We took the wrap off Daisy Mae’s head for the first time since her surgery.
I really didn’t know what to expect but It ended up being somewhere in the middle of what I imagined.
Tomorrow morning we have a vet appointment to make sure everything is healing the way it should and that there are no signs of infection or other issues.
I always feel like there’s an imaginary line with situations like this.
Until you cross it, you’re on high alert, watching every little thing.
But once you get past that line, you can finally breathe a little easier.
I believe we’re getting close to that point with Daisy Mae.
If we can get these surgery sites to heal without infection, I think we will be over the hump.
And if you spent 1 minute with this girl you would know the same as I do, that she’s happy to be here.
Thank you all for loving Daisy Mae.

Almost everyone is sitting…
Cali can’t sit good because of her missing leg…
And I’m not sure if I can get a goat to sit …haha

Today was a good day.
Everything is moving in the right direction with our sweet Daisy Mae.
She was so much more lively today.
She spent more time walking around, and when she gets excited she bucks around like a happy little calf.
She finished every one of her bottles without any trouble.
We gave her another round of antibiotics, and one of the things I’ve been watching closely is her lungs after she aspirated a little during surgery.
Today I didn’t hear any raspiness at all.
That is a huge answer to prayer.
I know she’s more than ready to get this wrap off her head.
I think we’ll be able to take it off Friday, but I’m going to double-check with the vet tomorrow before we do anything.
Thank you all for believing in her, praying for her, and helping give her the chance she deserved.
We love you, Daisy Mae. ❤️
Earlier today I was moving a hay bale.
When I dropped it, I heard chirping.
I immediately lifted the hay bale back up, and one of our baby turkeys was underneath it.
A sweet little turkey that follows us around like a shadow.
She ran out, but when I picked her up, she went limp.
I ran into the house yelling for Katelyn.
“I messed up… she’s dying,” I said as I handed her over.
Her neck was limp, and her eyes were barely able to stay open.
I was outside pacing the yard yelling at myself.
These animals trust us to protect them and then I messed up.
My wife was on the porch petting that little turkey, telling her over and over, “You’re going to be okay.”
Then she looked at me and said, “Jeremy… settle down.”
The way she said it, I understood I wasn’t helping.
That little turkey didn’t deserve to spend her final moments surrounded by my anger.
So I knelt beside my wife as she held her.
After what was probably around 10 minutes of Katelyn holding her, we watched something pretty dang awesome happen.
She started coming back.
Slowly, she lifted her head.
Her eyes opened.
Before long, she was moving around again.
I was convinced I had just watched her die.
Maybe it was time that brought her back.
Maybe it was the calmness of my wife.
Either way, I know one thing…
My wife is the calm in the middle of the storm.
And I’m so incredibly thankful for her.
Best of all, our little turkey has shown zero signs of discomfort the rest of the day.
It felt like a miracle to me even if there is a logical explanation
Daisey Mae is moving forward. Today was a good day.
Daisey Mae is getting stronger one bottle at a time
Spider-Man swung over to see his very special friend David to give him on of Spider-Man very own Spidey Suit
I think Daisey Mae is happy to be home…
And I know that we’re happy to have her back.
Since she’s been home, she’s been knocking out her bottles and has had a big appetite.
We’ve got seven days of antibiotics ahead of us, so I’ll be giving her one shot every day.
