From sleeping in her car to rebuilding her life—Chynna’s journey is proof that resilience, support, and hard work can rewrite your story. 💪🏽💫

"WISEPlace gave me a support system. Before, I didn’t feel like I had anyone on my side. I felt like I wasn’t worth anything – that I was the problem. WISEPlace helped me learn that I’m worthy of being loved, to believe in myself, and to never give up."

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜Did you know that WISEPlace’s permanent supportive housing program is the first and only project in Orange County to have housing vouchers earmarked for survivors of domestic violence?

Domestic violence is one of the main causes of homelessness for the unaccompanied women we serve. Faced with a scarcity of affordable housing options, long wait times, and financial instability, it can take years for survivors to secure stable housing on their own.

Consider taking a stand against domestic violence this October by joining the Hope and Housing Alliance at WISEPlace and making a critical difference in the lives of survivors today.

Christine, our incredible Saturday Workshop Volunteer Team Leader, spends her Saturday mornings supporting our workshop hosts and creating a welcoming space for the women we serve 💜 But when we needed a host, she didn’t hesitate to step in—leading a painting workshop where attendees could follow a guided video or paint freely 🎨 The room was filled with creativity, connection, and community… exactly what we strive for at WISEPlace.

🚨 ACTION ALERT: Call Congress TODAY.

HUD re-opened the FY 2026 NOFO late Friday, leaving just days to complete applications. Your Congressperson probably isn’t aware of the impossible situation that HUD has created for your community. This isn't a republican or democrat issue- it's simply about housing.

It is essential that your Members of Congress hear from you. Speak plainly, speak passionately, and loudly. Tell your members in both the House and the Senate:

HUD continues to suddenly force massive changes on homeless response in a chaotic way. This will disconnect vulnerable people from the housing and services they need and make homelessness worse in their district.

These aren’t just administrative decisions. They disrupt local homeless response systems and have serious consequences for the people and communities.

This uncertainty comes at a cost. Providers cannot effectively plan, hire staff, allocate resources, or serve people experiencing homelessness when HUD's requirements continuously shift. The consequences are felt by providers, individuals, families, and communities.

📞 Call your Members of Congress TODAY:
U.S. Capitol Switchboard: (202) 224-3121

Save this post. Share it with your network. Make the call.
