Montecito Fire

The Montecito Fire Protection District has a vacancy on its Board of Directors.

An applicant must reside within the boundaries of the Montecito Fire Protection District and be a registered voter of the District.

The appointee must run in the General Elections in November 2026 to retain the appointed seat, and preference will be given to those willing to run.

Interested persons should submit a cover letter with a detailed resume to the Montecito Fire Protection District at Station 91 no later than August 10, 2026 by 4:00 p.m. or by email to: [email protected]

Interviews for the position will be conducted by the Board of Directors at a public meeting on August 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

Road repairs are underway by Santa Barbara County Roads to address traction concerns. Drivers may experience reduced traction in areas where roadway treatment has been applied. Warning signs are being posted, and additional work is expected in the coming days.

Today, we honored Firefighter/Paramedic Ryland McCracken for his 20 years of dedicated service to the Montecito Fire Department and our community.

Fire Chief Fallon presented Firefighter/Paramedic McCracken with a 20-year service pin, which he will wear on his badge to recognize this significant milestone.

The Montecito Fire Protection District and the Santa Barbara County Operational Area place a high value on interagency cooperation. During large-scale emergencies, fire agencies within the Santa Barbara County Operational Area rely on each other, making it essential to be familiar with each other's tools, equipment, and operational capabilities for a successful response.

Today, personnel from the Montecito Fire Protection District and the Santa Barbara City Fire Department conducted joint training on Truck 71, the City of Santa Barbara's new tiller truck. Santa Barbara City Fire's ladder truck is dispatched to incidents in the Montecito community when specialized assistance is needed, thanks to our Regional Fire Communications Center's closest-unit response model. 🚒👨‍🚒

This training exemplifies how partner agencies can strengthen interagency cooperation, build operational familiarity, and ensure seamless service to the communities we proudly serve.

NEWS RELEASE: Independence Day Reminder - All Fireworks and Bonfires are Illegal in Montecito

As Independence Day quickly approaches, the Montecito Fire Department reminds our community and visitors that fireworks are dangerous and, therefore, illegal in all unincorporated areas of Santa Barbara County, including Montecito.

The manufacturing, storage, sale, handling and use of all fireworks pose an extreme safety risk to our community and are strictly prohibited in all areas of the Montecito Fire Protection District. Setting off fireworks may lead to injury, property damage or wildfire ignition. All fireworks, including “safe & sane” fireworks such as sparklers, are prohibited in Montecito.

Bonfires are also strictly prohibited at Santa Barbara County beaches within the Montecito Fire Protection District. This includes Butterfly and Miramar Beaches.

Vegetation in Montecito is on track to reach critically dry levels by mid-summer. This means the vegetation is highly receptive to burning and any spark that lands in brush has the potential to cause a wildfire.

We encourage anyone with information about illegal fireworks to call the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office at (805) 681-4100.

There is no parking on-site!
We suggest parking at Lower or Upper Manning Park and walking up to the Fire Station.
There is a designated “drop-off” area at the Fire Station.

Proceeds from the Pancake Breakfast benefit the Montecito Firefighters’ Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to members of our firefighting family and community.
