We know that the American Communist Party and the socialists, going back to the 1950s, set it as a majora genda item for them to take over one of the two major political parties in the United States. They're very close to taking over the Democratic Party.
The framers put the oath in the Constitution and the oath has to matter.
The framers of the Constitution understood that there would be internal threats to this Republic. That's one of the reasons why in the Constitution they put the fact that you have to take an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States in order for you to hold public office.
Speaker Mike Johnson and the Republicans should be preparing for the legal fight to prevent DSA-backed candidates from being seated in Congress. If you cannot take the oath, then you cannot serve.

It is not against the law in this country to be a communist or a socialist. Socialist Eugene V. Debs ran for president from prison. You can be, in essence, an enemy of the state and get elected to Congress. Whether you can legally take and hold office is another question entirely.
