New Mexico Rural Electric Cooperatives
Headquartered in Santa Fe, the NMREC represents the interest of the state's electric cooperatives.
Organized in 1944 and headquartered in Santa Fe, NMRECA represents the interest of the state's electric cooperatives and their members through legislative and regulatory representation, and public affairs. NMRECA provides specialized training for the board of directors, managers and employees of its member electric cooperatives. It also assists in marketing efforts, and produces and distributes enchantment magazine, one of the state's largest publications and the only one dedicated to rural readers.
Co-ops come in many forms––from electric utilities and credit unions to farm supply stores and housing co-ops––but all co-ops are built with a common purpose: to meet the needs of the members they serve.
