Nothing beats a good scratch.....😏

In between the storms (YES! RAIN!) we worked on the "car wash" obstacle.
Krishna mastered this one before Nickle!

Nickle's army was here today!
Now that the smoke is gone and it's not so hot, we can get back to work!

We added a shredded tarp to the newly fallen tree obstacle.

Krishna stood in the far corner of his turnout to avoid looking at it. While Nickle rightly assumed that if he did what he was told, even against his better judgement, that food would be involved!

Nickle was the inspiration for Krishna to finally go through. His big pony-ego couldn't stand that Nickle had praise AND cookies AND Molly's attention!

Nope, just nope.....😆

Thankful for the firefighters who have done an amazing job protecting land, resources and structures from the Frijole fire in the Santa Fe National Forest, Pecos Wilderness, Northern New Mexico!

We are so thankful to the brave firefighters who continue to work on the Frijole fire in Northern New Mexico's Santa Fe National Forest! And blessed by a couple good rains which really helped their efforts!
We have a new obstacle, given, not constructed. We'll add something like a tarp from the tree because this is way too easy!

Honestly, it was just nice to ride on the trail course and in the arena without smoke. 18 days since the fire began!

Almost 9000 acres now, 12% containment as of this morning, but today the fire was really active, not sure containment held!

The wind is moving this fire away from Partners and everyone is safe, but that doesn't make it less horrifying. Please pray for rain....lots of rain!

I was contacted yesterday by a reporter from a local newspaper asking about the fire's effect on horse business; It's not good.

The heat had slowed everything down considerabley, but we still had early morning and late in the day to ride. But the fire added poor air quality to the mix and those few moments of cool riding time were filled with smoke! No lessons, no trailrides, no restarts, no tune-ups!

Horses suffer in the smoke, same as people. Yes, some have to work regardless, but if you have a choice, avoid work for yourself and your horse, when the air quality is so poor!

Today was a treat. Rain-cooled morning following the brief shower last night, and no smoke! Nickle was very happy to come out for tricks and a quick ride in the arena and trail course! Lucky me.

I'm standing in the barn, watching it RAIN! Those are RAIN clouds, not smoke clouds!
