Textile & Surface Interdisciplinary Artist
Santa Fe, NM

Mi'raj is a mixed media, skate board, and surface-textile artist in Santa Fe, N.M, USA, born in the U.K., who graduated from the Parson's School of Design. She founded The Santa Refugee Collaborative, a community organization which serves to be the conduit of support for refugees and asylum seekers and The Avizeh Collective, a social enterprise, which creates to preserve arts and textiles made by Afghan-Pakistani women that supports to provide sustainability for women in New Mexico and as well as from those provinces abroad. Her work draws inspiration from her Pakistani and Afghan roots expressing women empowerment, beauty, tradition, culture and narratives of girls from those provinces impacted by the refugee crises. Each unique piece incorporates symbolic imagery of flowers, plants, and fruits indigenous to the region bridging the cultural distance between her roots and her adopted home, New Mexico. Persian literature and poems from Hafiz and Rumi shows up in her work as part of a narrative, preserving the native wisdom from displaced communities of Central and South Asia, as well as extending her work to cover parts of the Middle East, and Africa in a modern context.

SOLD! ❤️

One thing I love about being a Kamagraph skateboard artist are the messages being imbedded in radical feminist ways through one’s own indigenous culture. Grateful this sweet piece of work found herself a permanent home! Thank you “Nikki” and my sincere friend, Bobby Beals! Sharing stories of resilience and creating art with purpose is imperative! Proceeds from my skateboard art go towards supporting local altruistic, community efforts, and international charities!

Feel free to contact me for commissions that includes skate decks, sacred Kufic calligraphy, indigenous creative textiles, or upcycled furniture/surface design. I would love to create one for you! Check out some of the pieces on my Artist Page Miraj B. Studio !

Make art, not war! Thank you for the support!
