The mission of Santa Kilim is to introduce the beauty of ancient workmanship into daily lives and con Karim Saidi established Santa Kilim in 1991. Welcome.

Born in Fez, Morocco, a city founded in the 9th century, Karim grew up surrounded by the architectural detail of mosaic hand-cut tile, hand-hewn and gilded wood, and wrought iron created by the remarkable artisans of this magical city. Karim’s appreciation of textiles began in 1986, upon a move to Santa Fe, New Mexico where he found reminders of Morocco in the landscape and adobe architecture, and learned more about the vast traditions of textile production. Of Moroccan Berber heritage, textiles and weavings were a part of Karim’s early life and laid the foundation for the creation of Santa Kilim. His appreciation of Moroccan arts began his foray into the tribal arts of Central Asia, Anatolia, Persia, and the Caucasus; the diverse collection at Santa Kilim now includes old and new hand-woven textiles, kilims and carpets from all of these regions. The mission of Santa Kilim is to introduce the beauty of ancient workmanship into daily lives and contemporary homes. The work of the family-run business has been a journey of learning and discovery, a continuous hunt for treasures, and a great pleasure of collaboration with our clients.

Another refashioned corner of our store featuring Silk Velvet Ikat from Uzbekistan 🇺🇿

These bolts of silk are woven on a 14-18 inch wide loom which gives them their narrow build and get as long as 100 meters (300ft). Beautiful for use as custom pillows, bed sheets, and whatever else our clients may conjure up!
