Meet Dr. Cameron Shepherd

We are excited to welcome Dr. Cameron Shepherd to the Santa Rosa Smiles family!

Dr. Shepherd is a first generation dentist and dual citizen of the United States and Australia. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Alabama before receiving his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry.

He is passionate about building lasting relationships with his patients and providing personalized, high quality dental care. With his friendly personality and great sense of humor, Dr. Shepherd strives to make every visit comfortable, relaxed, and enjoyable.

Outside the office, he enjoys golfing, surfing, watching sports (including cricket and rugby on YouTube!), and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Dr. Tessa Shepherd, who will soon be practicing orthodontics in our community, recently welcomed their son, Cliff.

Braces are straightening your smile… but your toothbrush and dental cleanings are necessary for a healthy smile! 😁

This photo is a powerful reminder of what can happen when plaque is allowed to sit around braces. 😬 Brackets create extra places for food and bacteria to hide, making home care more important than ever!

✅ Brush after every meal (or at least 2-3 times a day) 🪥
✅ Floss daily using floss threaders or a water flosser 💦
✅ Use fluoride or hydroxyapatite toothpaste to strengthen enamel 🦷
✅ Keep your regular professional cleanings every 3-6 months 🗓️ Sometimes extra cleanings are necessary during orthodontic treatment.
✅ Follow your orthodontist’s instructions and don’t skip appointments 📅

When your braces come off, you want to reveal a straight, healthy, smile (not cavities, permanent white spots, or  buildup) 🤩

A few extra minutes each day can make all the difference! 💙
