INSHORE
Big fish, come get ’em! Big marauding schools of jack crevalle and bull redfish have been bending rods and hooks from bridge to bridge throughout Choctawhatchee Bay.

When a school is spotted, get upwind and give ’em some room. Don’t run right over the fish. Stay far enough off to make a cast and let them keep doing their thing. Running over the school only means fewer chances to hook up. Give them space and there’ll be plenty of fish and plenty of fun to go around.

SURF
Don’t be crying the blues when you want a fish fry! Bluefish are readily available all along the surf right now. They might not be filet mignon, but when you’re frying fish, they make a great meal.

Pompano can still be caught along the beach too, along with our prized North Florida whiting. Grab a rod and hit the sand.

OFFSHORE
Snapper & grouper are still chewin’! Not much has changed offshore, and that’s a good thing. Snapper and grouper are still hot, but as we get later into the season, it might be time to downsize that leader.

If you normally fish with 50 lb. leader, try dropping to 30 or 25 lb. You may deal with a few more break-offs, but you’ll also increase your chances of getting bit. Half the fun is the bite anyway. Give it a shot and you might surprise yourself.
