It has been so long that I can barely remember when we started this project, but the wait is finally over.

The Gulf Series 11-Foot rods hit the shop today, and they will be available for purchase later tonight. Mari and I need a little time to look them all over, pull a few for the boys at the shop, and get everything uploaded to the website.

Good news: we were not hit with any extra carrier charges, so the price will stay at $230.

This rod was built and designed with Gulf Coast pompano fishing in mind.

We went with a medium-heavy blank and a fast tip to help lock the rod in place during the cast, then give you that quick tip recovery for distance. I understand that a heavy or extra-heavy blank can add even more power to a cast, but that comes with a tradeoff.

A stiffer blank is not always as forgiving during the fight. If you are not used to fishing a heavier surf rod, hooks can pull, especially with pompano. We wanted a rod that surf anglers at all levels could enjoy right out of the shop.

We also shaved 4 inches off the original butt length to make the rod feel more comfortable and balanced while casting, retrieving, and fighting fish.

This is a true Panhandle surf rod built for the way we fish down here.

Give us a little time to cull through the order and get them loaded online. Once that is done, they will be open to the public.
