What a perfectly gorgeous day to clean up Beach Hammock with close to 30 volunteers! Great job, everyone! We saw a sea plane, the oyster farm, a huge pod of dolphins and a pristine beach, now minus all the trash we could find.

Don't forget to join us on Monday evening (13th) for our annual membership meeting at Chatham Sailing Club, 7pm.

This is what’s filling our oceans.

From bottles to fishing lines to microplastics, everyday waste sticks around for years, harming marine life.

All of it accumulates in a system built on disposability. Shifting toward reuse, better design, and less waste is part of how we change that.

Track your trash.

Take the 7-Day 🌊

For one week, starting on Monday, March 30, pay attention to what you throw away—especially plastic and packaging. It’s a simple exercise, but it can reveal a lot!

Inspired by Sailors for the Sea Ambassador Nike Steiger, this challenge is all about awareness first:

📝 Track your waste for 7 days
🔍 Notice patterns in your daily habits
🌱 Identify one small shift you can make
📅 Share your reflections and your shift by April 15

When we start noticing, we start changing. Knowing your own patterns and supporting your community in adopting practices to limit plastic pollution helps protect our environment. Even small shifts can add up to something bigger.

Thanks to Rose Oughtred for these photos of the oyster roast, especially the 5 members of the Savannah Arts Academy's Clean Coast Club, now in its 2nd year. We love seeing young faces caring about the coast and environment.

The sun was shining, there was a lovely breeze and the oysters were delicious as always! Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make it happen.
