Mother Nature served up a spectacular early fall morning for our club float-fly on Watchic Lake in Standish, ME today. Over a dozen pilots and several spectators enjoyed a beautiful blue sky, light winds and pleasant temperature. The water was like glass for most of the time. Big thanks to the Kiwanis Club for accommodating us once again…and to Tony Blanchard and Peter Pappas for managing registration and the all-important rescue boat.

Come to fly...come to watch, the Propsnappers Fall Float-Fly is always a good time especially as the fall colors start to appear. This year it’s a single day event with Sunday set aside as a rain date if necessary. Flying starts at 9AM and continues until around 2PM. Be aware that no food is provided, but we’ve got a rescue boat just in case...so that’s important!
There’s a $10 fee to fly and pilots must have AMA & FAA. Visit our website at https://propsnappers.org/html/events.html and scroll down to get more information and directions to Kiwanis Beach on beautiful Watchic Lake off Route 25 in Standish, ME.

Every year, our club hosts groups from the Maine ACE Camp...an organization that exposes youngsters to the many possible careers in the aviation industry. Many thanks to our instructors, Bill Lairsey and Pete Sarvas for donating their time, aircraft (and many batteries) to the effort this season. Thanks also to the club members who pitched in to help coordinate the sessions. It always a great opportunity to share our hobby with new and interested folks!

Despite the potential of showers and windy conditions, we ended up with a pretty spiffy morning for our annual Warbird and Civilian Fun-Scale event at Propsnappers Field yesterday. A great turnout of members and guests as well as plenty of flying made for a superb outing. Thanks to all who attended and especially those who helped with preparations beforehand. More photos soon…
