Not all gutter guards are the same.
A lot of store-bought guards struggle in Upstate NY because of two things: the mesh and the installation. Larger openings can let smaller debris through, and a quick fit may not properly account for rooflines, corners, and water flow.
LeafBlaster Pro uses a fine micro-mesh, but the install matters just as much. We custom-fit the guard to the gutter system, secure it properly, and pay close attention to corners and other trouble spots.
It’s not really about the marketing on the box. The details matter.

Nice gutters still need a good landing spot.
Getting water off the roof is only half the job. The downspout also has to carry that water away from the foundation. If it dumps right at the base of the wall, water can work its way back toward the basement.
Common fixes include:
• Downspout extensions
• Splash blocks or splash pads
• Checking that the ground slopes away from the house
It’s a small detail that can make a big difference in how your gutter system handles rain around the home.
If you’re not sure where your downspout water is going, we can take a look. Free estimates throughout Upstate NY.

Not every gutter problem means a full replacement.
A repair may be enough when the issue is isolated and the rest of the system is still in good shape.
We start looking at replacement when:
• a run keeps sagging after being re-secured
• leaks come back in the same spot
• rust streaks or stains keep showing on the siding
• gutters are undersized for the roof area
• the system is old, misaligned, or no longer draining properly
If a repair would only get you through one more season, replacement is usually the better spend.
We look at the whole system, not just the spot that is leaking, and explain which way makes sense for your home.

Late fall is usually the last good window for gutter installs and repairs before winter.
As temperatures drop, sealants can take longer to cure, aluminum becomes less forgiving to handle, and frost or freezing conditions can slow the work down.
If your gutters are leaking, sagging, or due for replacement, it’s worth getting them looked at now instead of waiting until spring.

This isn’t where we try to save a couple dollars a foot.
We use .032 aluminum for our seamless gutters because Upstate NY gives them plenty to deal with: snow load, ice, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Thinner, lighter metal has less to offer when that weight builds up. It can be more prone to bending, denting, or losing its shape over time. The material is part of why a gutter system is built to last, not just the installation.
We also back our workmanship with a 10-year warranty.

The gutter is the part you see. The fascia board behind it is where moisture damage can start.
When water slips behind a gutter, or a clogged section overflows, it can sit against the wood. Sometimes it’s been happening for a while before you notice anything inside the house.
Along the roofline, we look at the water path, gutter pitch, hangers, seams, end caps, and the condition of the fascia behind the gutter.
It’s worth checking before a small drainage issue turns into a larger repair. Upstate NY homes take plenty of weather.

Don’t wait for every leaf to fall before cleaning the gutters.
In Upstate NY, packed leaves and pine needles can block a gutter run before fall is over. One heavy rain on a clogged section can send water behind the fascia instead of over the edge.
Cleaning before the freeze-up helps keep water moving as temperatures drop. It won’t prevent every winter gutter issue, but it’s a good seasonal step.
If your gutters are packed, professional cleaning is the safer way to get them ready for winter.

Standing water in your gutters days after a storm usually points to a pitch problem.
Gutters should have a slight slope toward the downspout so water keeps moving. If water sits in one section, the cause is often a low spot, sagging gutter, or loose hanger.
The good news: it’s usually fixable. A quick inspection can show where the water is getting held up before it leads to bigger problems.
A little troubleshooting now can save headaches later, especially here in Upstate NY.

People think about gutter color more than they admit.
Gutters run along the whole roofline, so the color can change the look of the house quite a bit.
Some homeowners match the trim so the gutters blend in. Some match the roof for a more continuous look. Others match the siding and let the roofline stand out a little.
There isn’t one right answer. It depends on the house and the look you want.
When we’re putting together a gutter estimate in Upstate NY, we’ll walk through the color options with you. The choice is yours.

Snow guards on a metal roof help hold snow in place so it releases in smaller sections instead of sliding off in one heavy sheet.
That matters for the gutters and downspouts below, along with walkways, doors, and landscaping around the home. A large sheet of sliding snow can put a lot of force on whatever is underneath it.
A practical winter-prep detail for some metal roofs. Have questions about your home? All Things Gutter offers free estimates throughout Upstate NY.
