This October, Emergence is collaborating with Caravan for a very special takeover!

What will you hear at a CARAVAN night?
This show is an open-format show where each DJ can play any genre of music they’d like. There’s only one rule: they must incorporate instruments, languages, and sounds from around the world throughout their set. This creates the feeling of traveling through the world together as one caravan of people. 
CARAVAN is inspired by the true-life historic Silk Road that wound its way through Europe, Asia, and Africa. Along this route, there was a mingling of cultures and backgrounds that provided a platform for them to interact, come together, and contribute to a newly created global market. We have the same vision to create a global connection, this time through music.
World music is genre-fluid & promotes inclusivity, accessibility, and overall respect for one another. You don't need to know the instruments or the language to understand its meaning and appreciate its beauty. This appreciation sparks cultural curiosity and investigation. It’s a concept that brings us all together, and it's a dream we want everyone to feel included in.

Rounding out our spotlight is our monthly guest erica !!

With inspiration from clubbing around the world, Seattle-based estelica blends the past and present to create an infectious and energetic atmosphere. Behind the decks, they layer melodies and grooves so dancers can discover their next favorite track. Drawing upon a broad musical background, as a tastemaker estelica spins an ever-evolving mix of 90s-style dance with house, techno, trance, drum & bass and world grooves. As a q***r femme DJ, they value the dancefloor as a space of self-expression and escape, and invite you to lose yourself to dance.

1. When did you first realize your passion for DNB? My friend’s dad introduced me to LTJ Bukem and other liquid artists when my bestie and I were getting ready for senior prom! I fell in love with the infectious jazzy energy of the breaks paired with lush rhodes chords and 808 subs, and I’ve been hooked ever since!
2. What are your top 3 favorite FLINTA DNB artists (Producers/DJs)
I have to go with AK SPORTS for their earlier work, Nia Archives (who I got to see at the Neptune!) and SHERELLE for her blend of jungle techno and earlier rave samples
3. How would you like to see yourself progress as an artist in the next few years?
I’ve been experimenting with a live hybrid set up that uses elements of my own music production with my DJ sets, and I would love to do more of that! as well as playing gigs for unique venues and parties with more diverse lineups 🪩✨

For our next featured artist, we are welcoming back Mariah Rae for a special back to back set with Mira Tipirneni celebrating both of their birthdays!

Mofiyah is a Drum & Bass DJ born and raised in Seattle, known for their high-intensity selections and forward-thinking sound. Only just beginning their journey in 2023, they have quickly become a standout presence in the PNW's underground bass scene, opening up for respected international artists like; Chase & Status, Culture Shock, Enei, Eprom, Esseks, Harriet Jaxxon, The Librarian, Moody Good, Phace, Posij, Rohaan, Sota, Stylust, Ternion Sound, Truth, The Widdler and Zeke Beats.

1. When did you first realize your passion for DNB?
Although my passion for dnb was fully realized around 2018, When I was young in the late 90s and early 2000s I watched a lot of cartoons and played a lot of video games with jungle/dnb tracks sprinkled into the soundtracks.

2. What are your top 3 Favorite FLINTA DNB artists? (Producers/DJs)
Gyrofield, Kyrist, Harriet Jaxxon (in no particular order)

3. How would you like to see yourself progress as an artist in the next few years?
I would love to start producing my own tracks and have my art influence others in a positive way. I would also love to start playing more festivals, hopefully some out of the country as well.

Known for her passion for soundsystem culture and the underground music scene, Mira Wanna delivers her unique palette of all things bass to energize the dancefloor. In her sets she blends drum and bass, halftime, and dubstep to create a journey through sound marked by distorted basslines and broken beats. She’s had the honor of opening for artists such as Eprom, Pav4n, Hypho, Monty, and Two Swords. As part of the Back2Bassics and Emergence DNB crews, she aims to create platforms for local artists to express their creativity freely.

1. When did you first realize your passion for DNB?

My love of bass music led me to discover the 1985 and Mad Zoo labels back around 2017, which both introduced me to drum and bass. Then, two sets in particular hooked me on the genre. One was a Mat Zo livestream in 2020 and the other was Reid Speed at Timbre Room for Kremfest.

2. What are your top 3 Favorite FLINTA DNB artists? (Producers/DJs)

Latesleepeer, Reid Speed, and Salo

3. How would you like to see yourself progress as an artist in the next few years?

I’d love to discover more underground producers in the genre to support and also release some tunes I’ve been working on.

Last but absolutely not least, we're so happy to have Simba Meeyow back at it!

Since stepping into the vibrant world of DJing in 2008, she has been on a musical journey that has shaped her evolutions as a DJ and performer. Initially drawn into the scene by a friend who was hosting hip hop nights, she quickly became captivated by the art form. With the guidance of her friend, she honed her skills on vinyl and Serato, laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong passion for music.

1. When did you first realize your passion for DNB?
"Someone played a John B - Tainted Love vinyl, I listened, and I finally got drum and bass!"

By 2011, Simba made a pivotal shift toward electronic music and discovered a true passion for drum and bass in 2014. This genre resonated deeply, igniting a creative spark that has driven her performances ever since. While Simba has a versatile repertoire and enjoys spinning various genres at different events—ranging from open format and weddings to renegades and clubs—her heart firmly beats for the upbeat, euphoric sounds of drum and bass.

2. What are your top 3 Favorite FLINTA DNB artists? (Producers/DJs)
"Venbee is my favoritest!
Jungle Queen for a lot of her remixes! (Duh)
Becky Hill and Ella Henderson for singers/songwriters!"

With every performance, she not only spins tracks but also weaves together stories that resonate with the hearts of her listeners, ensuring that each event is not just a party but a celebration of life, music, and community. As the beats drop and the lights flash, Simba invites everyone to join her on this exhilarating journey through sound, where the only rule is to have fun and dance like no one is watching

3. How would you like to see yourself progress as an artist in the next few years?
"I am eager to be producing finally! Ive been writing a lot lately and am excited to utilize the skills and knowledge I have gained over the years and bring them together to get to produce and remix my own tracks! Having played in a band (or 3?) before, as well as years of choir and learning various instruments, will definitely play a huge role in what I am planning to create!!!"

"Around 2019, I’d listened to it prior but that was around the time that I started really getting into it and wanting to spin it."
