Sometimes I feel like I spend a lot of time getting through things. Whether it's solving the problem, making the next decision, or figuring out what comes next, it can start to feel automatic.

We can get so focused on making it through the hard season that we forget to notice when something good is already growing.

But, we don't have to wait until we have everything figured out before we enjoy what's here.

So, as Fall comes in, I'm trying to pay a little more attention to the harvest...to the people I love, to music that makes me move with joy, the cooler mornings, and those chance encounters that leave a smile on my face while I leave one on theirs.

This week has given me plenty of reminders that life doesn't have to be perfect to be good.

So I'm paying attention. 🍂💜

Life is funny. This week I was reminded that I'm not alone.

There are people who love me, believe in me, and are willing to show up when I need a little support. And for someone who's pretty accustomed to figuring things out on her own, receiving that support is its own kind of practice.

I don't have everything figured out. There are still things I'm working through currently and answers I don't have yet.

But this week, abundance showed up as generosity, friendship, family, and people saying "I've got you."

And this morning, even the sunrise in the Western sky greeted me in my favorite colors. 💜🩷

I'll take it.

Your hobbies called, They want more space! 😂

This Highland Park home is NOW PRICED AT $525,000, and the backyard alone is pretty special.

This move-in-ready renovated 1-bed, 1-bath home has a large fenced yard (dog run!), detached workshop and a full unfinished basement with laundry and tons of storage.

But the workshop and yard are the real showstoppers. There’s room for gardening, bike projects, weekend tinkering, hosting friends, or growing into. Slap on a DADU and you've got rental income coming in! 🤑

📍 8848 13th Ave SW, Seattle

Come peek inside, wander the yard and picture all the fun things you could do with this space! Message me for mre details or a private tour.

📅 Labor Day morning, I stepped outside and my neighborhood was QUIET.

No construction, garbage trucks or *that guy* roaring his motorcycle down the street. Just a beautiful morning and and unexpected sense of calm.

And then, I NOTICED it. The quiet. The serenity.

That felt especially good because there are plenty of things in my life that aren't figured out right now. I'm looking for part-time work, again, to supplement my real estate business. There are bills to pay, business and life decisions to make, new routines I'm still trying to build... you know, life, lifing. 😂

None of that magically disappeared. But for just a little while, it was quiet. It was peaceful. And I savored it.

I'm so glad I recognized that moment and stopped long enough to enjoy the fact that my ears weren't ringing and my nervous system was calm, even if just for a minute.

It's the gentle reminder that don't have to wait until the job is found, the bills are paid, the decision is made, or everything feels settled before we're allowed to enjoy what's good right now.

Sometimes peace sneaks in before we've figured everything out.

Thank goodness. ❤️

18 years later, the b***y shakes are staying put. The schedule? That’s getting a remix. 💃🎶

Beginning the week of September 7, I’m still bringing the music, the sweat, the questionable singing and ALL the Zumba joy to the West Seattle YMCA… But now you'll find me on NEW days and times!

🔥 THURSDAYS @ 4:30 PM
🔥 FRIDAYS @ NOON

Same energy. Same Reema-craziness, and same likelihood that I’ll yell something ridiculous while you’re trying to remember which foot you’re on. 😜

➡️ And to my Tuesday night crew and all my after-work regulars: I’m going to miss seeing you in our usual time slot! ❤️ I hope one of these new times works and we get to keep shaking it together. And if not, you can still catch me at a group event or find me here on social.

Come dance with me! And, please stay in touch. 💃❤️💃❤️

After 18 years of teaching Zumba at 5:30pm, my schedule is changing.

EIGHTEEN YEARS. That's a pretty well-practiced rhythm. 😂

And it's happening at the same time I'm trying to create some new rhythms in other parts of my life, too. Small daily habits that help keep my home, my mind, and my nervous system from getting overwhelmed.
The funny thing about creating new habits is that the old ones have had a LOT more practice. Of course they're easier to fall back into.

And maybe that's the part I've been forgetting: the new stuff takes practice, too.

I learned one of my favorite lessons about practice years ago in yoga. An instructor told us, "Every pose is a new pose. Every moment is a new moment." Just because you couldn't do something five minutes ago doesn't mean you can't now. And just because you could do it last week doesn't mean it'll happen today.

I've carried that with me ever since.

We're not practicing because we're supposed to become perfect. We're practicing because every time we show up, we get another opportunity to choose.

So as I head into this new season, I'm giving myself a little more patience with the rhythms I'm trying to create. Some days I'll get them right. Some days I'll fall right back into what's familiar.
And then I get to practice again.

Maybe that's how change happens. Not in one giant leap, but by practicing something new often enough that one day, it starts to feel like home. ❤️

I've always been fascinated by Dolly Parton.

Not just her talent or success, but by that innate sparkle that seemed to come from somewhere deep inside her.

Dolly was a woman who was unapologetically herself. She knew people judged the way she looked, talked and presented herself, and somehow, she always seemed to be in on the joke. She didn't make herself smaller to make other people more comfortable.

Yet, she was warm, kind, generous and confident to her core.

But here's what I really wish I could have asked her about:

How did a girl who grew up with so little BELIEVE there could be SO MUCH out there for her?

Because surely scarcity wasn't just part of her childhood. It came from generations before her. Those patterns get passed down. They settle into our nervous systems and teach us to prepare for what could go wrong, even when we're desperately trying to believe in what could go right.

I know that pattern too well.

And right now, when I have some very real financial fears, I can feel how easy it is to let today's circumstances become the blueprint for tomorrow.

My current circumstances are information, not prophecy.

That's what Dolly's legacy has me thinking about.

I'm in awe of her perseverance, yes. But even more, I'm in awe of how she always seemed to carry with her an outlook of POSSIBILITY and positivity. She was selfless and would always say there was enough out there for her, and enough to share.

I want more of that spirit.

I'm learning to embody it. To more often than not trust what's possible, instead of becoming mired in what is.

Maybe my reminder when scarcity noise gets really loud can be as simple as:

WHAT WOULD DOLLY DO? 🌼

Keep working. Keep dreaming. Trust that God/Universe has a plan. And keep going.

Because really, the alternative isn't an option.

I can do that. ❤️
