Margaret Hamilton was a lead software engineer during the Apollo 11 mission whose work helped make the Apollo guidance computer reliable enough for a mission where failure could mean death. During the moon landing, the computer began throwing repeated 1202 “executive overflow” alarms. The situation was extremely high-stakes, but Hamilton and her team had designed the software so that it could prioritize critical tasks and recover rather than simply crash.
The stereotype that women are too “highly sensitive” or emotionally overwhelmed to perform under extreme pressure doesn't fit this kind of situation at all. Hamilton's work illustrates something more useful: high-stakes performance depends much more on preparation, expertise, judgment, and the ability to act under uncertainty than on gender.

The advice I’d give instead:
Be ambitious about the work you want to become excellent at, not about how much of your life you can surrender to your job.
