Strong arts scenes start with students who learn to love art and envision themselves engaging in local arts as an adult. So we're strengthening the connections between arts in our schools and arts in our communities!

Thank you to Art Salvage for so thoughtfully supporting eastside artists who lost their creative outlets in recent fires.

ArtsEd Washington is matching donated used items with folks who lost similar items, and purchasing replacements for items without a match.

If you know students or teachers in need, please encourage them to request their replacement on our website.

Art Salvage is supporting the Eastern Washington Recovery Project by offering specific materials on a “Give What You Can” basis.

🎨 ArtsEd Washington is collecting material and monetary donations to help students and teachers who lost their visual and performing arts equipment in the Eastern Washington fires. These items are more than just objects for entertainment. They enable expression, healing, the joy of being creative, and they are important components of a meaningful school day.

100% of proceeds donated will directly go to this project.

📣 Don't stop supporting arts education just because is over!

✈ Recently, ArtsEd Washington joined national and state arts education leaders at the Education Commission of the States and Arts Education Partnership convening. One message continually rang out: Meaningful, long-term change requires more than responding when a need arises.

Long-term change requires investing in relationships early; listening across roles, regions, and experiences; sharing ideas; and staying connected before we know exactly what a partnership may produce.

That is especially true in arts education. Sustainable, equitable access for Washington students depends on ongoing collaboration among students, educators, school and district leaders, teaching artists, community organizations, policymakers, and advocates.

🤝 We are grateful to learn alongside colleagues from around the country, and to share those insights with partners across Washington as we continue building a future where every student can experience a quality arts education.

💡 Arts Education Access and Instructional Time and Structure Vary by Grade Level
• Elementary: Most schools provide one hour or less of arts instruction per week, with music typically delivered by certified specialists and visual arts more often relying on general education teachers or volunteers.
• Middle school: Approximately 60% of middle schools require at least one arts credit, with students completing an average of 1.1 credits.
• High school: High schools offer the broadest range of advanced, specialized, and career aligned courses.
