Getting a little closer, main construction on the table is done, time to put on a podcast and sand my little heart out.

Commission build. MCM variation on a trestle table, with each side acting like a screen consisting of three panels. Mocking up the dimensions and seeing how it interacts with the accompanying bench.

Just got a new workshop set up, and starting making a thing. Fun to see Junie’s silhouette on a piece of furniture again.

Another quick teaser. Playing with the natural grain of the wood with the rigid lines to add texture to the doors of this cabinet. This was the prettiest piece of wood I have seen in a while.

So much going on these days, we are moving to Idaho in a few weeks, and I am diligently working to get a few more pieces done before the move. The nice thing, is these all will be coming with us! For now a quick teaser of some through tenons with some maple wedges. So psyched on how these turned out!

Lots going on in the shop these past weeks and little time to post! The desk is getting close, but needed to add a door in the desktop for cable management and storage. Used soss hinges to keep the profile low, and cut in an access port for cables. I also love how nearly centered the knot in the grain in for this feature!

Complicated glue up for sure. Butt joints, mitered joints, and face joints. After all the mock ups, prefinishing the interiors, cutting dominoes I just had to pull the trigger and get this thing together. It took over an hour and used 22 clamps and 105 pounds weights. Making progress and it feels great to see this desk coming together. 📸

Mocking up the cabinet legs and bracing for the upper bookshelves. Love working with this wood, it has just so much character.

I was out of the shop this weekend as Juniper was scheduled to work this weekend. She was not amused that when she showed up, they didn’t even need her to be the camp host. At least we got a little scamping and hiking in!
