Join our closed group (under the same name) to engage in discussions and connect with other renters. Renters make up 80% of the people living in the heart of Capitol Hill, but they lack a voice in important decisions about our neighborhood. As rents spiral upward and the City considers big housing and livability policies, the decisions we make now will shape the future of Capitol Hill and Seattle for many years to come. Renters’ voices need to be front and center in these decisions. We comprise the majority of residents on Capitol Hill. This is a place to to stay up-to-date on what's happening in the neighborhood and how to take action. Did you know that this Friday, some King County Councilmembers are planning to increase your sales tax to subsidize wealthy suburban road construction? Their plan would increase sales tax across the county, and instead of sharing the revenue equally, siphons nearly $3 million of sales tax revenue annually from Seattleites to subsidize road building wealthy suburbs like Bellevue, Medina, Yarrow Point, and Beaux Arts. Seattle is the only city singled out in this way by their proposal.
Take action and tell King County Council that Seattle should be treated fairly, and our sales tax dollars shouldn’t subsidized suburban road building.
