🚨PERSPECTIVE 🚨 The Club Bouncer Who Captured CapeTown Nightlife in the 1960's is NOW SHOWING at Gallery F Gallery F | Photography Gallery | Cape Town in Cape Town. Bouncer/Photographer Billy Monk's remarkable photographic series offers an intimate look into a side of the city that history almost forgot.
Captured between 1967 and 1968 inside The Catacombs nightclub, Monk's black-and-white images document a community that existed beyond the restrictions of apartheid. Drag performers, jazz musicians, sailors, s*x workers and late-night revellers are seen with honesty, warmth and an unmistakable sense of freedom.
The exhibition is more than a photography show, it's a rare cultural archive that preserves the people, places and moments that challenged the official narrative of the time. Though Monk never lived to witness the lasting impact of his work, his photographs remain among the most important visual records of Cape Town's underground nightlife.

🚨PERSPECTIVE 🎨🚨 Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final between Spain🇪🇸 and Argentina🇦🇷, Cape Town artist Nic has imagined the blockbuster showdown through a striking illustration inspired by classic arcade fighting game "VS" screens.
A lifelong Spain supporter and Lionel Messi🇦🇷fan, Nic created the artwork as a personal passion project, inspired by what he sees as the poetic possibility of Messi playing his final FIFA World Cup match against the country where he built his legendary career.
"I'm a playfully loud, mixed medium artist from Cape Town, who loves good food, Hip Hop culture and drawing on things. Illustraton is my zen garden, and working/ experimenting in different styles (mostly cartoons, commercially) is where I think I've quietly found my place." - Nic Hoekstra
