8:30 a.m.: Seattle firefighters are responding to a report of a possible gas leak at the UW's Electrical & Computer Engineering building. The building is being evacuated. Avoid the area. More info: alert.uw.edu

The Seattle Fire Department is responding to a potential hazardous materials incident in the Hans Rosling Center for Population Health. The substance is reported to be refrigerant leaking in the basement. Anyone in the building should follow SFD instructions and others are asked to avoid the area to make room for SFD responders and vehicles. Updates at alert.uw.edu

The Seattle Fire Department is responding to a hazardous materials incident in Fluke Hall, where a liquid nitrogen tank has been reported to be leaking. The tank is believed to be venting in a fairly standard way. Liquid nitrogen is not toxic or flammable and is not believed to pose any danger to individuals, however the area should be avoided while SFD makes its way to the location and does its investigation. UW police are asking for students, faculty, staff and visitors to avoid Red Square until further notice due to an emergency response near Kane Hall. A person who is not affiliated with the UW apparently died by su***de this morning. Police do not believe there is any threat to the community.

10:40 p.m.: UW Police Department officers are investigating a death that occurred at Nordheim Court Apartments building 7 reported at about 10:20 p.m. The death is being investigated as a homicide.
