Last weekend, our Potlatch Fund (PF) staff and Board gathered in Missoula for the 2nd Annual IndigiPalooza MT, Resistance 250+!
Chickadee Community Services, a PF grantee/giftee and one of the organizers of IndigiPalooza, hosted a beautiful gathering filled with Native voices, stories, art, learning, laughter, and connection. Potlatch Fund was honored to support the gathering as a sponsor, while also visiting with community at our table, listening and learning, and supporting our Board President, Jordann Lankford Bright Trail Education , as she presented on the Learning to Be: Indigenous Ways of Knowing panel.
One of the most special moments was blanketing CCS Founding/Executive Director, Anna East, at the culmination of the event.
Gatherings like IndigiPalooza MT remind us why being together matters. Relationships are at the heart of Potlatch Fund, and there is no substitute for sitting together, sharing stories, learning and showing up for one another.

Together, the Na'ah Illahee Fund and Potlatch Fund are pleased to announce the Power of Ceremony & Healing Grant opportunity. This grant is created to honor and uplift our relatives who dedicate their time to healing, ceremony, and traditional work within our communities 🪶

Applicants must be Indigenous, Alaska Native, or First Nation Individuals living and supporting work within the greater Northwest region: Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.

Grants will be awarded to represent the gratitude we share toward traditional leaders, elders, and healers in the varied range of roles and crafts. 🤲

We're especially proud that our Board President, Jordann Lankford (Bright Trail Woman), will be speaking at this year's event.

Jordann is an educator and Indigenous Education for All instructional coach with Great Falls Public Schools, where she teaches American Indian Studies and Native American Literature while supporting educators across the country in integrating Indigenous perspectives into their classrooms. She also serves on the Montana Advisory Committee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights and is Chairwoman of the Montana Advisory Council on Indian Education (MACIE). Her many honors include Montana History Teacher of the Year, Montana Indian Teacher of the Year, and 2025 Lowell Milken Center Fellow.

Today we honor Juneteenth and celebrate freedom, resilience, and liberation. We recognize and uplift our Black and Afro-Indigenous relatives whose leadership, creativity, and care continue to strengthen and nourish our communities.

Potlatch Fund celebrates one of our grantees, Harry Hayes Slickpoo Jr. (Nez Perce/Nimiipuu), for recently presenting Nimiipuu place names entirely in Nimiipuutímt at a community gathering held June 12 in Kamiah, Idaho.

Rebecca Miles of Potlatch Fund (Nez Perce/Nimiipuu) attended and reflected: I am proud that the gifts we can give support such profound work for our people. Harry has spent his life learning and preserving the language and ensuring it continues to live on. The language must be spoken. Our land defines who we are.
