Jeff Baker

"One of the best male vocalists in the jazz world today"-WCLK, Atlanta, GA

After a 7 year absence from the studio, critically acclaimed vocalist JEFF BAKER will be headed in to work on a new project in 2016! Easily my most ambitious recording yet, PHRASES will be a musical collaboration with some of Bakers closet friends, and musicians he’s admired for years! The album will feature 7 original songs by Baker, and music, arrangements and adaptations of artists like Peter Gabriel, Bonnie Raitt, Oren Lavie and others. Joining Baker as musical director & Co-producer, is acclaimed pianist and composer, Darrell Grant! Additionally, PHRASES will include Bakers long time friends, bassist Clark Sommers & saxophonist Geof Bradfield, as well as some of the most influential and compelling jazz musicians in the world today, Brian Blade, Steve Wilson, and 2015 Thelonius Monk Competition Winner, trumpeter Marquis Hill!

47 today. Wild to even type that.

Thank you all for the Birthday wishes. It means the world to me. And since I have a captive audience today, I thought I’d do a little update.

A lot has changed since I last posted about our new company UMxID™. That post was really about where the idea came from, my mom, my music career pivot, and a decision to build something that mattered to me. Here is about what’s happened since.

We brought on our first hire as a company, a Senior Developer who’s now our Founding Technical Lead. Watching someone else believe in this enough to build it with me, full time, still gets me a little emotional.

We just launched the new website and brand overhaul at www.umxid.com. It’s the first time UMxID™ has looked like what it actually is.

Behind the scenes, we’re in active conversations with state governments on VOTExID™ and DMVxID™, and with hospital systems on CREDxID™. We’ve got 9 working prototypes now, and we filed a non-provisional patent covering more than 40 verticals. Our advisory board now includes several of the smartest, most talented folks I’ve met. People who didn’t have to say yes to us, and did anyway. We’ve welcomed a number of new investors and strategic partners, all of whom are excited to help us solve this problem.

None of this happened because of some magical abilities. It happened because people kept showing up, including a lot of you reading this.

If you want to see what we’ve built, go look at www.umxid.com
And if it means something to you, sign up for the waitlist while you’re there. That’s the best way to support this right now, and would be the best Birthday present a guy could ask for!

Grateful doesn’t even cover it. Thank you for being part of the last year with me.
