This one's for the gals! Join a network of female-identifying avalanche workers as we gather to celebrate "moms in the mountains" ahead of Mother's Day. The evening will feature stories and discussions with women in all stages of motherhood and all facets of the snow and avalanche world. You do NOT need to be a mom to attend. With ISSW 2024, Tromsø, just under a week away, we want to take some time this week to thank our Avalanche Diva Sponsors! Thanks to the community's generosity, we awarded four travel grants to women presenting their research at the conference.

Not only are they supporting women in the avalanche industry, but they also began the International Ski Patrol Day in 2022 to highlight this hardworking group of professionals. It's been a tragic week with three avalanche fatalities across the western US. Our hearts go out to family and friends grieving lost loved ones. Thank you to the ski patrollers, SAR teams, and avalanche forecasters for all your efforts in the aftermath of these incidents.

The mountains are an unforgiving landscape, bringing both fullillment and great loss to our lives. It can be difficult to process this juxtaposition, leaving us feeling empty, attempting to understand the why and how. It would be extremely challenging for the Avalanche Divas to maintain our own 501-3C non-profit company. The A3 graciously maintains the Avalanche Divas under its own umbrella making it possible for us to continue to support women avalanche professionals.

Stormy weekend in the PNW. Glad to finally see winter return to our mountains!

It also brought touchy avalanche touchy avalanche conditions. We hope you're out there somewhere safely enjoying winter in the mountains.

I know you're all busy with springtime missions, or winter is in your rear view mirror. But the Diva's wanted to reach out and remind everyone that Travel Grant applications for female-identifying ISSW presenters are due on May 31st!
