Unloop’s free Digital Literacy Program helps formerly incarcerated adults across Washington State build practical skills for work, school, and everyday life.

Over three weeks of live, virtual classes, participants learn how to use tools like email, Google Docs and Drive, online job platforms, LinkedIn, and AI. Classes are small, interactive, and designed for people with any level of experience.

The world changed while you were away.

If you were incarcerated before smartphones, Zoom, or online job applications became everyday life, you're not expected to figure it all out alone.

Unloop's free Digital Literacy Program is for formerly incarcerated adults across Washington State. In our last cohort, one participant joined after 20 years away, and learned alongside others starting from the same place, at no cost, with no judgment.

Some participants are returning from incarceration after many years away.

While they were incarcerated, everyday systems moved online. Job applications, housing, benefits, and communication are now digital by default.

Now they’re expected to navigate all of it immediately after release.

We’re raising $2,500 to provide 5 laptops for participants in our Digital Literacy program, so they can access the systems they need and build the skills to navigate them.

Our first Digital Literacy Program cohort of 2026 kicked off this week.

The people who showed up came ready. Some had never used a computer before. Some were nervous. All of them walked in anyway.

At Unloop, we provide free tech training to justice-impacted adults in Washington State -- Google tools, AI, digital presence, and the everyday skills that make navigating life after incarceration more manageable. Our program is delivered in small virtual cohorts, with no transportation required and no prerequisites, in partnership with Victory Code an organization that understands reentry from the inside.

More cohorts are coming this year. If you or someone you know is ready to take this step, applications are open.

Applications are now open for our next Digital Literacy Program (DLP) that starts in March.

DLP is for justice-impacted and formerly incarcerated adults in Washington State who want to build foundational digital literacy, confidence using technology and AI tools, and readiness for education or employment. The program is beginner-friendly, virtual, and designed for people starting with little or no formal tech experience.

The job market is difficult for so many right now. For those navigating reentry, the challenges are steeper, often with fewer resources to draw from. Unloop supports formerly incarcerated and justice-impacted individuals in building the digital skills and professional readiness needed to pursue living-wage careers.

This year, our participants took concrete steps toward their goals, applying new digital and professional skills in real-world ways.
• Clarissa launched an online store for her clinical-strength skincare line after learning the tools needed to build and manage her business.
• James created a symptom-tracking tool for his VA doctor and built a website for a local community organization.
