Show Up, Seattle is an annual day of action when Seattle neighbors come together to roll up their sleeves and give back. This year, Southwest Seattle Historical Society is hosting a volunteer opportunity – cleaning up the plaza at Riverside Memorial Park! Help us steward this important piece of land honoring the early immigrant residents of Riverside, supporting local parks and local history at the same time.

Learn more about the ecological stewardship of Fauntleroy Creek by picking up a Civic Engagement Bingo Card on Sat, Sept 19th! These bingo cards identify stories of community action throughout the Log House Museum’s new exhibition “Beyond Alki.” On the same day, visitors can also hear from Washington Elections and learn more about civic engagement in the context of voting.

• Get inspired with stories of local civic engagement! Use a bingo card to find stories of the people and communities of the Duwamish Peninsula who are featured in our new exhibit and have organized and advocated to make West Seattle what it is today!
• Get all your questions answered about the state elections process from the Washington State’s Elections Division
• Register to vote ahead of the statewide general election on November 3rd
• Celebrate civic engagement on the 250th anniversary of the USA! (Yes, this program is being held on the Saturday after the *National* Day of Civic Engagement!)

25 years after September 11, 2001, the Southwest Seattle Historical Society takes a look at the Statue of Liberty Plaza as a site of remembrance. Artifacts, memories, and reflections left along Alki in the days after 9/11 are on permanent display at the Log House Museum’s “Beyond Alki” exhibition. In addition, visitors can view scans of more than 120 luminary bags placed along Alki online. Carefully preserved from the weeklong memorial, they express an outpouring of emotions from the community members in the form of handwritten messages and drawings.
