🍂 September General Meeting 🍂
When: September 09, 2026 7:00 PM, PDT
Where: Phinney Center and Zoom
Meeting starts at 7:00 pm; Program begins at 7:15.
Topic: The Modern World of EPP
Speaker: Michelle Bartholomew Michelle Bartholomew
During this presentation, I will share all about modern English Paper Piecing (EPP). It includes examples of my favorite EPP quilts and other unique EPP makers in this space. I also share what I love about this unique niche, some of my process for creating custom pieces, and tips to get started on your own modern EPP pieces.
About the Speaker: Michelle Bartholomew put ‘make a quilt’ on a list of things to do before she turned 30 and is now an award-winning quilter. Using bright and saturated colors, she doesn’t start cutting into fabric until her design is 100% planned out on the computer. She really loves any creative project that involves some kind of hand work. Either hand piecing or hand quilting. That extra little attention makes things feel so special.
Reminders:
Bring your unwanted unfinished projects and works in progress to the meeting for October’s Blind Bag Swap
Remember to send your photos for Sew and Tell to [email protected] by 8 pm on the Tuesday directly before the meeting.
In person - bring your items for the free table and quilts for sew and tell!
Accessibility: SMQG wants everyone to be able to participate comfortably.
If you’d like to discuss accessibility needs of any kind, including financial accessibility, please email [email protected].
Additional reserved accessible parking spots available by request in the upper lot. Email [email protected] at least the day BEFORE the meeting to arrange.

❤️🩷 Thank you to Seattle MQG members who participated in the Spokane Fire Relief quilt drive. Special thank you to guild member Sara G for organizing and collecting quilts for donation.
The Spokane Fire Relief drive was organized to support Spokane residents impacted by the recent wildfires. The drive was coordinated in part by Create It Studio in Acme, WA. Batting was donated by The Warm Company. Quilt finishing (longarm and binding) was done by members of Stone Soup, an organization in Shoreline, WA that makes quilts for cancer patients.
Quilts pictured above were made by Seattle MQG members Sara G, Gale L, and Bridget S. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this effort.
