Seattle ReCreative promotes creativity, community, and environmental stewardship through creative reu
Seattle ReCreative keeps good stuff out the landfill so you can make art with it! We collect from local businesses and individuals donated materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill to redistribute to our community. Proceeds from the resale of these goods help us to fund our arts programming and enable us to provide free creative materials and professional development workshops to local public educators. We believe that art fuels innovation and collaboration, and endeavor to create a physical space and programmatic approach that reflects this belief. Our hope is that Seattle ReCreative will function as much more than a model for environmental stewardship. We see the space as a catalyst for social and intellectual enrichment. By bringing together members of our community to shop, create, experience, and discuss art and creative reuse, we aim to foster cultural and personal connection amongst artists and environmental stewards of all ages. Our classes and creative playspace provide young children with developmentally appropriate art-making experiences, while also exposing them to adult art practices and appreciation. Workshops are conducted by artists, educators and environmental activists from both inside and outside our community. Additionally, we have a space for rotating exhibitions of art created from salvaged materials and an artist marketplace. Gallery events will inspire artists, stimulate social connections and provide fundraising opportunities. We believe that art has the power to change human consciousness, and that our project will challenge others to think more broadly about interpersonal and global impact.

Donation Ask!
Help us improve our donation infrastructure. Seattle ReCreative Georgetown is in need of a working desktop computer for our material processing team for basic office tasks (web browser, spreadsheets, documents).
We already have a monitor. A Small Form Factor/Micro Form Factor, Thinclient, or laptop with HDMI out would work as well. Mac or Windows/Linux based chipset are all ok.

We're excited to announce new programming for fall!
Join us for After School Trash to Treasure on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3 pm-5 pm and Wednesdays from 1:30 pm-3:30 pm. In September, young artists will use recycled materials to "Build a Friend" and "Build a World" from their own imagination!
On Tuesday mornings, we'll have Open Studio hours from 11 am-2 pm for artists of all ages to create with the support of our teaching artist staff, facilitating with pre-planned projects and guiding student-led creativity.
On Tuesday nights from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm, join us for our Adult Mixed Media class series. On 9/22, we'll practice mini bookmaking. And on 9/29, join us for "Hearts and Crafts!"

This Saturday! Join us for our monthly Art Band class from 10:30 am-12:30 pm at Seattle ReCreative Greenwood. For ages 7-11.
In this fun, collaborative, and interactive art class, students will use music to make art and use their art to make music! From playing a high-stakes musical chairs art game to conducting a color-driven performance of a lifetime, this class is sure to inspire creativity and a love for the arts.

Even beginners can learn to create "etching-like" prints quickly and easily using tools and materials you already have at home! Learn to use recycled packaging and water-based ‘ink’ to make your very own prints. All supplies will be provided, and step-by-step guidance will ensure everyone leaves with their own finished plates!
