Sail Sand Point

Sail Sand Point is continuing to keep all lake launching and wading closed while the current water closure remains in effect.

Open Boating will not operate Friday, October 2, and all SSP on-water activities, including race team practices, Friday night racing, and tonight's adult class remain paused.

Based on current King County updates, we anticipate being able to resume water access and Open Boating on Saturday, October 3, unless we receive updated information. We’ll share any changes as soon as we receive them!

Thanks for understanding, everyone! This is a public health closure beyond our control. We are definitely looking forward to opening back up again!

Seattle Public Utilities has notified us of a sewage overflow near Matthews Beach that is impacting the shoreline and public launching area at SSP.

Please do NOT launch from SSP or swim in the water from our shoreline while the beach closure is in effect. Seattle Public Utilities has posted closure signs in the area and has advised that they will remain in place for seven days.

Open Boating will be closed both today (Sunday, 9/27) and tomorrow (Monday, 9/28). Sunday afternoon racing is cancelled. We will reach out to those of you participating in race team and the Adult 101 classes on Monday.

We know this is an inconvenience and appreciate everyone helping us keep our community informed. We’ll share any updates we receive from Seattle Public Utilities. For now, if you need to access the water you may do so from the public boat launch on the south side of the park.
