The IF Project
If there was something someone could have said or done that would have changed the path that led you
The IF Project is a collaboration of currently- and formerly-incarcerated adults, community partners, and law enforcement focused on holistic intervention and the reduction and prevention of incarceration and recidivism. Our work is inspired by and built upon people sharing their personal life experiences around incarceration. Since 2008, The IF Project has collected thousands responses to the “IF
question,” and the answers have inspired a full array of prevention, intervention, and
awareness programs and a full-length feature documentary film. We offer intensive writing workshops, personal reentry preparation (PREP) courses, health and wellness classes, and mentorship opportunities to currently-incarcerated women to help them reflect on their lives, reconcile with their pasts, and create plans for their futures. Upon release, IF stands by our members with specialized case management to provide individualized support as they search for jobs or go back to school, find housing and transportation, seek out behavioral healthcare, and reunite with their families. Most of all, IF gives the emotional support and encouragement our participants need to keep going, even when things are difficult. The deep personal relationships we have with our members and our concern for their human rights continually push us to advocate for them in the community and at every level of government.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, The IF Project honors a truth worth reflecting on: community isn't built in spite of our differences — it's built because of them.
"Together, We Are More" — "Unidos, Somos Más" — captures what we believe at our core. Diverse voices and shared purpose make us stronger, together.
Today, we remember.
We honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the heroes who stepped forward, and the families and communities forever changed by that day.
May we continue to remember, to honor, and to hold onto the strength and compassion that brought people together.
Never forgotten.

Every story is a seed. Every voice deserves to bloom.
Save the date: Saturday, October 24, 2026 for The IF Project's Annual Fundraiser & Storytelling Showcase — Our Voice Is a Garden.
This is more than an event. It's a celebration of courage, healing, and transformation—a gathering where voices long kept quiet find the light they need to grow. When we come together, our stories take root. They flourish. And they inspire others to plant seeds of their own.
Picture a room alive with truth, tended by a community that believes every voice matters. That's the garden we're growing—and we'd love for you to be part of it.
More is on the way, including tickets, sponsorship opportunities, featured storytellers, and a few surprises waiting to bloom.
Here's how to help us grow:- Tag someone who belongs in this garden- Share this post to spread the seeds- Mark your calendar for October 24, 2026
Let's grow something beautiful, together.

💜 Healing. Support. Connection. Empowerment. 💜
The IF Project is proud to provide supportive services through our HSD-funded Gun Safety Program for women and families impacted by gun violence.
As a gender-responsive organization, we understand that the effects of violence extend far beyond the immediate incident. Survivors, family members, caregivers, and community members often face emotional, financial, and practical challenges while navigating their healing journey.
Through this program, participants may receive:
✨ Resource navigation and case management
✨ Peer support and mentorship
✨ Healing Justice Circles
✨ Emotional wellness and resilience-building support
✨ Referrals to housing, behavioral health, employment, and community resources
✨ Limited supportive services to help reduce barriers to stability
Our goal is simple: to create safe spaces where healing can happen, connections can be strengthened, and women can access the support they need to move forward.
If you or someone you know has been impacted by gun violence, we are here to help.
